My friend and I stayed here with our 9 year old daughters for 4 days
while we toured the area. The complimentary breakfast is unbelievable.
They have Everything, from bagels to eggs and pancakes, fresh fruit, hot
coffee, cold cereal, yogurt. The BEST. It is nicely located and within
walking distance of shops and restaurants. There is parking in the hotel
basement, which is a little tight and expensive. Our room was clean and
spacious with floor to ceiling windows and a kitchenette with
refrigerator, sink, microwave, stove top and coffee maker. The price was
affordable for downtown Vancouver and the location and breakfast made it
perfect for us. I'll be back with my daughter and husband . . . SOON.

We stayed in the city of Vancouver for a night as we were taking the
Rocky Mountaineer early the next morning which left from a more
expensive hotel nearby. Breakfast is included in your tariff at the
Cascadia but if you leave early they don't give you a breakfast basket
the night before to use next morning, you just miss out. The room had a
kitchenette so this would have been a good option. Room was very clean
and we had an upgrade to a higher room. Lovely view. Very central
location with transport very close

Stayed couple of nights in January 2011. Comfortable double room, clean,
spacious, with a little nice kitchen and also a view of downtown. The
only problem I found was the noise you could hear from the renovation
works. Overall a good choice

Recently stayed at the refurbished (ing) Cascadia July 2011. Great
location close to Down Town and close enough to walk to the water front.
I walked to the Canada Centre at the sea wall and hired a bike and did
Stanley Park in 3 hours so no issues with location. Breakfasts were good
but you got to time your grab cos there are some busy slots but no
complaint about the food. The rooms are very good. I was there on a 4
day business trip and it was perfect. Bed comfy, plenty of room to scope
the net (free) and a balcony with a view. Yeah there was some
construction going on but not at night so I would definitely stay there
again.

Clean and spacious room. Friendly staff. Somewhat noisy due to the
air/fan system difficult to control. Excellent breakfast. Loved that you
could open the windows, in that kind of building.
During the renovation, the pool they give you access to is a 15 min
walk. So not a very interesting proposition at the end of a long day of
walking when you want to use the pool. They were working on building a
beautiful terrace, I'm sure it will be a nice relaxing spot once
completed.
The front desk should know how much their own laundry machines cost. I
asked for change and she gave some change but it was the wrong coins.
Had to go back again and exchange for other coins.
Good value & location for Vancouver, but would probably try and test
another location next time.

We stayed for 3 nights at the Cascadia, we really don't understand how
people could be unhappy with this hotel. It has a great location, about
a ten minute walk to the downtown, Davie st (gay village) on the
doorstep which has some great bars and restaurants (if you like
Malaysian try the banana leaf restaurant) The trolley (red loop) stops
right outside the hotel and the reception will sell a reduced price 2
day hop on hop off ticket. The Blue loop trolley stops one block behind
the hotel and the ferry to Granville island goes from the bottom of
Hornby st and is only $2. The rooms are spacious and comfy, yes the
furniture is a bit dated but for a city centre hotel this place is a
steal, plus the complimentary breakfast is a big bonus, good choice of
hot and cold breakfast. Would definitely stay again.

The Cascadia is a Suite Hotel and everything you could want is in your
room already. We had a huge bed, massive TV, sofa, and a desk for a
laptop with wireless and wired internet access included in the price.
The kitchen had a cooker, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge, coffee
maker, kettle, toaster and all the cutlery, crockery and glassware you
would need. With all of that we could live off the food from the many
high quality deli's [and wine stores] in the city centre.
High-speed lifts were available, and these were much used as our room
was on the 19th floor with spectacular views across the city, and a
great bar is also down there for you on the ground floor.
Would we stay there again ? Absolutely, without a doubt, this place made
our stay in Vancouver even more special.

We needed a place to stay in Vancouver as we passed through. Comfort
Inn, Best Western all around $200 and looked pretty shady. Reviews on
Cascadia were pretty good with similar price. Cascadia won because the
Rocky Mountaineer picks up right here and the rooms were suites. We
weren't disappointed. The decor is 80's but relatively clean and pretty
spacious. The 'relative' term comes from the caked on dirt around the
baseboards and tile in the bathroom and the kitchenette. It's not
filthy, but looks like 20 years of daily cleaning without detailed
scrubbing.
The breakfast buffet was pretty good. A really, really good selection.
The warm items were served steam table style, but were relatively fresh
and all but the sausage was warm to hot. Good selection of breads,
pastries, cereal, drinks and fruit.
We also got a free $10 starbucks and subway gift card. Had I known
better I would have stayed here on our way back out of town instead of
the highly overpriced and very disappointing Fairmont Pac Rim (see my
review on that).
Overall, I found Cascadia in need of some remodeling and deep cleaning,
but would absolutely stay again. For what I paid and the
service/opulence I received I've rated this higher than I did the
aforementioned Fairmont. I would visit Cascadia again.

Stayed here for 6 nights in August, & the renovation was finished but
they were taking down the scaffolding. No problems checking in. Close to
everything. Good clean rooms & get better the higher you go. Jar of
sweets in the room was a nice touch. All you can eat breakfast.

Stayed at The Cascades last year during September and impressed by the
comfort, food and customer service who were so helpful in suggesting
tours. We last stayed here 10 years ago when it was The Marriot and
again nothing has changed --it is still an excellent hotel. |
