Booked this hotel through the Vancouver tourist information centre and got a
great rate. The rooms are absolutely massive, clean and new and in a perfect
location on Robson Street, close to all shops and transport but at half the
price you will pay in the West End or on Granville St. You can pretty much walk
to everything from here - trains, stores, seabus, Stanley Park.
Our room had a fridge. Service was great. Small lobby but does have Internet.
Will stay here again.

We headed to Vancouver BC near new years 2011. We got a great deal on a 29th
floor room at the Blue Horizon. The hotel is at the end of Robson Street, a
shopping district with a lot of restaurants and lounges. The room was quite
comfortable and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Most of the rooms are
"corner rooms" with windows along two sides, allowing for a 180 degree view of
Vancouver and the bay. The one complaint we had was the heating system; every
couple of minutes a small "hiss" of steam would pop up, which made sleeping a
little fitful. Otherwise, though, we had a lovely stay. Be sure to visit the
Creperie (Cafe Bretanne) down the street for a great lunch or breakfast!

We stayed here for 4 nights at the very end of a three month trip to the States
and Canada and loved every minute of it. We had a corner room on the 19th floor,
which was extremely spacious with a balcony and lovely city views. The beds were
probably the comfiest we have ever had. We didn't eat in the restaurant at all,
but it seemed reasonably priced. The location is excellent as you are right on
Robson Street, in the thick of everything and there are endless cafes, shops and
bars nearby. We mostly walked everywhere, but one day we did hire bikes and went
around Stanley Park, which was great fun, and within walking distance of the
hotel (about 15 minutes I think). We thought the hotel was really good value,
and the bonus was that the bus we got from our hotel in Seattle stopped right
outside the Blue Horizon in Vancouver, which made it all very easy for us. The
staff were very helpful and the rooms immaculate. We would definitely stay
again.

Stayed first week in December just for 1 night..22 floor great view beds were
comfy front desk staff very friendly breakfast wasn't great but quick if your on
the run perfect location for shopping walk to everything shopping at night we
felt safe on the streets only negative was the parking lot was a public lot 15
dollars a day and we didn't feel safe in there after dark.. good value rooms
were clean small fridge I did notice the walls seem quite thin we could hear the
neighbors showering and using the biffy. Might stay again but I do prefer a
little more luxury when its a girls getaway.

We stayed at the blue horizon hotel in November 2011. =The location was great
and there were a good choice of restaurants nearby. The staff at the front desk
were very helpful and the hop on and off trolley bus stopped right outside the
front door. The restaurant at the hotel was also very nice for breakfast and
reasonably priced as well.

I hate to be the spoiler or gadfly for Blue Horizon's rave reviews on yelp but
this needs to be mentioned. The hotel is very reasonably priced and includes
pool and cable flat screen TV. BUT, (this is very important), their erratic
internet service is dismal AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. 90% of hotels in Vancouver
have wireless capacity. BLUE HORIZON has archaic outdated cable service which
made me miss important Skype business internet calls. I was informed by the
hotel's maintenance guy that the Hotel's owner refuses to upgrade his internet
regardless of at least 2 outages a week. This review just might compel the owner
to resolve this issue for many business travelers who require DEPENDABLE
internet contact with their businesses. Hotel owners cannot afford to be a
"luddite" when it comes to hotel amenities. They will quickly realize a drop in
their occupancy rates.

Spent a week in Vancouver at a convention at Canada Place. Hotel was about a 20
minute walk from the convention and right on Robson Street. Right where all the
action is at night. Staff was friendly and helpful. Ask for a room from one of
the higher floors, the view is amazing. It was clean and bed was good. Pillows
were great and lots of them. Definitely would stay here again.

Stayed here in June 2011, before an Alaskan cruise. Had a huge room on the 28th
floor, 2 Queen beds great views of the city and beyond. No noise even though it
was during the Stanley cup final match !! Never thought the Canadians could be
so wild ! Crazy canucks.... Pity they lost ! ....Back to the blue horizon. I
agree that the check-in concierge desk can be very busy, when we were checking
in the staff member was trying to do 3 things at the same time which I think is
..just rude. There were constant queues at the desk 3 and 4 deep.
The breakfasts were great in the bistro outside, location was excellent within
walking distance of everything. The only other downside was the bathroom .. for
such a large room the bathrooms were v small and could do with a makeover. But a
good hotel and great location |
