We stayed for 5 nights in May 2008 prior to our cruise.
Rooms were very large. Fantastic view over the city. My brother whose room was
on the other side of the building on the same floor, had an even better view of
the city and the distant mountains. We were 2 adults and 2 pre teens in our room
and it was very comfortable. The large room had 2 queen sized bed, plenty of
storage and lots of space to move around.
In terms of interior and lobby design, there is nothing very special about it.
But I had seen photos beforehand so I was not expecting more. It was just as I
expected. The rooms were quite pleasant, very comfortable, and very clean.
Location is perfect on Robson St where there are many shops and restaurants and
a small grocery store just a few buildings to the left (as you exit facing the
street, turn left). The carpark in the same building is also very convenient but
see my warning below. It was a comfortable walk to Canada Place for our cruise -
without any luggage, because my husband (with my brother and and my son) loaded
all the luggage in our car rental and drove to the cruise terminal ahead while
the girls and I decided to walk because we wanted to do some last minute
shopping on the way =).
A word of warning. Upon check in, there is a sign at the reception reminding
guests not to leave valuables & other items in the car because there have been
incidents of theft to steal even just coins, or a scarf from inside the car. So
we made sure we didn’t leave anything. But we forgot one very important thing.
We had left our GPS hooked to the rear view mirror! It was a personal GPS, not
from the car rental. The next morning, we found our car had been broken into,
the rear window damaged, and the GPS gone. Although there is a security guy, he
seemed not surprised and very used to the idea that cars get broken into inside
their parking garage. In fact, he said very matter of factly that for that day,
we were the 8th car to have reported being broken into. And it turned out we
incurred the greatest loss because the other cars didn’t leave valuables in
their cars.
The receptionist was very helpful in assisting us with filing a police report
and all the paperwork necessary to present to the car rental company so that the
insurance company can cover the damage to the car. She was quite thorough and we
had all the paperwork needed to present to the car rental company. But since I
did not pay for coverage of “theft of personal belongings”, our GPS wasn’t
covered. The receptionist seemed very well versed with the whole process which
made me think this must really happen often in their parking garage. In fact,
she confirmed that there have been many recent incidents. So be warned. I am not
certain if this is a common occurrence in Vancouver in general, or if it is
isolated to the area around Blue Horizon. But one thing I am sure of, it is a
common occurrence in the parking garage of Blue Horizon.
If I come back to Vancouver, I will stay in this hotel again.

We loved this hotel. The location is great, right on Robson. The staff was
friendly. But it's really all about the room and the view. The room was spacious
and comfortable. The view was breathtaking. Only negative was the tiny one
person at a time bathroom. But who cares. I can't wait to go back and stay there
again. This is the one place we stayed on our trip that we were recommending to
everyone we saw.

I booked my stay through the Whistler Mountaineer web site (fantastic day trip)
and it was the cheapest of all the hotels they recommended. However, being on a
budget and seeing the great reviews here I decided to give it a try. Boy am I
glad I did! Spectacular views of either the city or the bay with a true walk out
balcony.
*My room was very clean.
*View of the city from the 30th floor is beautiful even if you are surrounded by
some other high rises.
*Check in staff were very friendly and efficient.
*I got to check in early 9:00am
*Large spacious rooms with lots of windows
*Mini bar prices were actually reasonable
*Fridge could have been a little colder but no big deal.
If I am every back in the area I will not hesitate to stay here again.

This hotel is old but the Hotel Location on Robson Street is within walking distance
of many good restaurants like the Keg Steak House and Moxie's. We stayed on the
27th floor with a stunning view of the water and mountains. The queen bed was
comfortable and the room was a good size but as I said it was tired looking due
to its age. The elevator thankfully worked well and sped us from ground floor up
with no delays. There is a cafe on the ground floor with indoor and outdoor
dining which is very convenient for a quick breakfast if you are in a hurry. We
paid CA $179 which for a large city is a bargin. I would definitely stay here
again. Good value!

I'm not sure why other tripadvisor members, who seem like a picky bunch, are
raving about this hotel. It could be that it's the best downtown Vancouver has
to offer. We were disappointed and almost checked out early. Still, when we
lowered our expectations the stay was pleasant enough.
First of all, the hotel is in an extremely busy downtown section of Vancouver,
which may suit some people, but it's not what we were expecting. We were warned
repeatedly while checking in not to leave anything in our car, as car windows
have been smashed in to steal a quarter. Wow. Not a great introduction to our
stay.
The room was nice enough, clean, but the decor throughout the building was
wildly outdated. The fridge in the room was so warm a quart of milk spoiled
within the day. The views from the room were good, but blocked by the many
neighboring tall buildings.
The pool was the size of a large bathtub, and stained. Our 3 year old enjoyed it
though, he was about the only one who could fit in it.
If I'm ever in Vancouver again I will stay elsewhere.

Fantastic place AND really great value, when you consider the other deals on
offer. Great Hotel Location right on Robson, near loads of bars, restaurants. (Try
Moxies and the Red Robin) just across the street. (much better then some places
twice the price)
Definately worth the extra $10 for the higher rooms. Fantastic place

After reading the reviews, I couldn't wait to stay at the Blue Horizon. It's
every bit as good as everyone says. Great Hotel Location, clean rooms, fabulous views
from the 29th floor over the harbor (request a harbor view if available). The
day before our cruise we walked to the harbor to catch our flight seeing tour
with Harbor Air (which we also highly recommend), walked to dinner. The next
morning we took a 2.5 hour city tour in the AM before our cruise and the tour
company picked us up right in front of the Blue Horizon and dropped us off after
lunch at the cruise terminal. So convenient. We paid less than $200/nt and felt
it was a bargain for the view alone!

What a view!
This is a wonderful hotel, close to Stanley Park, Robson Street and lots of
great restaurants. The rooms were spacious and clean, the view from my 20th
floor room was spectacular, the service was great, and even the restaurant was
good. The best part is that the rates are very reasonable. I never had a problem
catching a taxi, there was always one parked out front when it was needed. It's
in a very safe area, so walking any time of day or evening was no problem. The
rooms had an excellent bed, a sitting area and desk and a large bathroom. I felt
like a queen! I would stay there again in a heartbeat.
