Editor's Hotel Review of the Best Western Hotel Downtown Vancouver
The Best Western Vancouver is just a 5-block walk from the theater and
Entertainment District area on Granville Street at the south end of downtown.
All rooms are comfortable, and some have harbor views. The corner rooms are a
bit smaller than the rest, but brighter. This hotel has a few amenities, but the
rooms are well furnished and the convenience of it's location is great. Rooms
with a full kitchen are available for an additional charge. Keep in mind,
however, that the area is quite safe, this is still a very vibrant, nightlife
happening in the downtown neighborhood. If you enjoy being close by to some
street life in the evening and the parks and beaches in the day then this is the
hotel for you.

Stayed 3 nights from 24 April 2008. Seemed a bit out of the way from the CBD but
actually an easy walk to the harbour. Room was clean and comfortable, rooftop
terrace was a good feature. Granville St has its fair share of dubious types but
we had no problems, exchanged pleasantries with one outside the 7-11 and he
couldn't place my 'southern accent' (more southern than he could possibly have
imagined!). Complimentary water bottles in the rooms were a nice touch. Ate at
the White Spot which we enjoyed. Recommend a walk to the Granville Island
Markets. This was our first stop in Canada and it got our trip off to a great
start.

Nice clean rooms. Staff willing to go the extra mile--they bent over backwards
to ensure that my partner could print a document from her computer--very
impressive. Free internet. Free local calls. Complimentary bottled water. Fridge
in room, and microwave. Everything clean--and to drive it home, WHITE
bedspreads.
And a great finish: No surprise charges on the bill. I think these people asked
themselves "what do customers hate?" and they eliminated everything we don't
like. Friends stayed at a much more expensive hotel and they were "nickel and
dimed" to death. Not at the Best Western.
We had concerns originally about the safety of the area--no problem! I ran into
ONE panhandler. And when I said "no", it was no problem. There is construction
going on next door, and we could see the work from our tenth floor room, but it
never disturbed our sleep. I would absolutely stay here again.

Great hotel and great employees. This property is convenient to everything, in
spite of it being across downtown from the harbor (only a 10 minute walk).
We got in a day early and the only room they had was the penthouse. They gave it
to us for a slight difference in price ($179.00) and let us stay in the PH on
our second night (the original reservation) for price of the lesser room.
Awesome Hotel Location, everything is 10 minutes walking distance or less.
BEWARE the senior citizen cruiseship crowd, there was a 10 minute wait for one
of the two elevators on Saturday b/c a cruise ship was departing and many of the
would-be golden year sailors had sequestered themselves at this inexpensive
hotel.

Fine hotel. Clean and spacious room. Nicely located (though the presence of
doubtful individuals give Granville Street a weird atmosphere later at night),
close to downtown points of interest.
Despite the (in general) positive impression of this hotel, I wouldn't recommend
staying here this summer. There's is a construction site right next to the
hotel, causing significant disturbance. It woke us up at 7 am on weekdays. Mid
May, they were still demolishing the existing building. So they'll probably be
doing demolishing and construction work the entire summer. Beware of that before
booking (I wish I would've been...).
The hotel staff did apologize after I complained about this, but that was all.

We stopped over in Vancouver on our way to Whistler. What a great Stay. Some of
the reviews refer to the neighborhood and while it is on the edge of downtown,
Vancouver is a huge diverse city and I have never felt unsafe walking around and
this area was no different. The room had a very comfortable bed and a large
fridge which was nice. Good water pressure in the shower. An in room safe,
coffee pot, microwave, etc. The amenities include a roof top terrace with a great
view that has a recreation area that includes a hot tub with a view, a ping pong
table, and exercise machines. The staff was very friendly and the hotel also
had secured underground parking for only 10.00 which is a bargain for hotels
these days. We used the hotel in room guide book for a recommendation on dinner
and were not disappointed. And we got a 25% discount on dinner with our room
key! A great little local restaurant called Characters. They had Indian and
Greek cuisine. Overall a wonderful stay. The hotel also has a White Spot
restaurant in the hotel which had great service.
