Not much more to add to the already positive reviews. Good price. Walking
distance to good restaurants. Convenient location to go to UBC.
There was road construction occurring which wasn't a pretty sight but it did not
interfere accessing the hotel nor did it cause a noisy environment. During check
in the desk clerk seemed disinterested and not too happy. However that will not
dissuade me from returning.

This place was pretty "fancy" for a Best Western or what I was used to. The
rooms were nice and very clean, although a little on the small side. The views
from our rooms were very nice also but it was a little bit of a walk from the
actual downtown were all the shops and people were. This hotel's location is
isolated compared to the more central region of downtown Vancouver. The front
desk and staff in general were very accommodating and we enjoyed our stay.

I liked this hotel. We stayed here for nearly a week and it was good for us.
The room was a good size, beds comfy, I liked the room.
I found the staff helpful, which make a difference when you are in an unfamiliar
city, they gave me lots of help when I needed it with things to do, where to go
etc.
The hotel has washing machines and dryers which I found handy.
You get a big fridge in your room, a microwave and kettle. (But I never found
any plates or cutlery so we bought some plastic plates and spoons)
The location is good, handy for Granville island and downtown.
There are a couple of corner shops very nearby, which is also handy, I saw a
couple of homeless people hanging around the streets outside sometimes, but that
can be said for Vancouver generally and every other city I've been to.
Granville street has some seedy shops on it so if travelling with children I
wouldn't walk down that street. We were not travelling with children though.
There is also some building work on Granville st at the moment in time for the
winter Olympics, but it didn't affect us in any way, we never heard building
noise.
I would stay at this hotel again if in Vancouver.

Maybe not an ideal location for families because everywhere you want to go is at
least 3 blocks away. For mobile adults it's a short walk to the interesting
things in town. If you don't want to walk they have a free shuttle (I didn't
need it). They have free wi-fi but it's slow. The parking in the basement is
convenient and costs about $15 CDN.

I stayed at the Best Western Downtown Vancouver for a couple of nights in May
08, and was very impressed. The hotel is modern, comfortable, and clean. The
hotel staff were helpful and welcoming. It's in a good downtown location at a
reasonable price. While there's not much directly around the hotel, it's a short
walk to Robson St, and close to Granville Island.
Perhaps my only problem was with the chain restaurant attached to the hotel,
where the staff were rude and the service was slow (waiting over an hour for
breakfast is just not acceptable). But if you avoid them you should have a good
stay.
I highly recommend this hotel if you are visiting Vancouver and want something
close to the city centre. I am planing a trip to there next year and intend to
go back to the Best Western Downtown.

The Best Western in Downtown is really a good deal! We stayed there 2 nights and
it was fabulous. The hotel its self is definitely great. Wonderful view from the
roof, while you work out in the fitnessroom, play table-tennis or relax in the
Jacuzzi.
The rooms are really nice, large and clean and absolutely calm (really amazing)!
Beds are comfortable.
The area is not as bad as it is sometimes described here. It is not unsafer than
the rest of Vancouver! There always people on Granville Street (This is the
''worst'' street), the 7eleven is open 24hours and there is a police station,
just 50m down Granville Street from the hotel. So it should be fine! A lot of
other hotels are on Granville Street by the way (Ramada, another BW, Holiday Inn
Suites is in the street next to Granville Street,...)
The bad parts of Vancouver are Surrey and definitely Hastings Street, which is
between Gastown and Chinatown. Just get sure you don't walk around there in the
dark! But these parts are far away from this Best Western!
I can really recommend this hotel, but only 4 of 5 stars, cause parking is not
for free and there is no breakfast included!

My husband and I stayed for 5 days and had a lovely room with everything you
could wish for, even an umbrella which was useful as it rained for the first 3
days. The area around the hotel was not very nice, a lot of homeless people,
although they were harmless.
We had a 4 day trip to Vancouver island and visiting relatives and returned to
Best Western staying for 2 nights before taking the train to the Rockies,
however the room we were given was very small and we did not have half of the
things we had when we stayed for 5 nights.

After our Alaska cruise we stayed at the Best Western Downtown Hotel in
Vancouver. It was an inexpensive and convenient choice for our two-day visit.
The staff was most helpful and accommodating by suggesting bus and walking tours.
We arrived from our cruise ship at 8:00 am, and our luggage was stored while we
walked to the water taxi and visited the markets on Granville Island. The room
was clean and comfortable.

hubby and i stayed for two nights in this hotel and were very happy with our
room. we didn't really have a view to speak as we were on one of the low floors
of but the accommodation was very clean and well looked after. we found the area
a bit 'iffy' though we were told it was quite safe to walk around at night. some
homeless people asking for money was the main problem. the room itself was a bit
on the small side but very clean and modern. bed was most comfortable. there was
only two of us so the size of the room was not to much of a hassle. front desk
staff were very friendly and nothing was to much trouble. can't comment on
parking as we had no car and used public transport. we would have no trouble
recommending this hotel to other travellers.

The hotel is good, everything clean and it's got a good central location. It's
close to yaletown (very nice restaurants etc). However there are lot's of
homeless people outside (not that i felt unsafe) that could make a first night
impression of BC feel less impressed. There is no breakfast included however
there is a whitespot in the building for a nice breakfast.
The elevator is very very slow and might give you an extra 10 minutes wait to
get downstairs. Guest Reviews of the Best Western Downtown Vancouver

Stayed 3 nights from 24 April 2008. Seemed a bit out of the way from the CBD but
actually an easy walk to the harbour. Room was clean and comfortable, rooftop
terrace was a good feature. Granville St has its fair share of dubious types but
we had no problems, exchanged pleasantries with one outside the 7-11 and he
couldn't place my 'southern accent' (more southern than he could possibly have
imagined!). Complimentary water bottles in the rooms were a nice touch. Ate at
the White Spot which we enjoyed. Recommend a walk to the Granville Island
Markets. This was our first stop in Canada and it got our trip off to a great
start.
