Review of the Executive Hotel Vintage Park Vancouver

We found it easy to get here from the train in from the airport. We had
a three night stay and found the staff very helpful - the shuttle
service into town was great and the location close to bus stops made it
really easy to get around. On our first night we had a room facing the
freeway and because the window didn't lock shut properly it was a little
noisy - but as soon as we notified the office we were offered another
room straight away and it was no problem. The rooms aren't huge but they
are comfortable. We enjoyed the wine reception on one of our days there
- nice to come back to the hotel after a busy day and have a glass of
wine. So many great Japanese restaurants and other places to eat nearby
and we took our sushi takeaway down to the park at False Creek and felt
like locals.

Stop overnight in Vancouver for changing the airplane, I booked this
hotel through hotwire, this hotel locates in the heart of downtown
Vancouver, great location, the room is a little bit smaller but the view
is good, sit in the room with a couple of coffee and watch the bridge
and cars outside the window, great relax, pretty quiet, no noise at all.
I will certainly come back.

The photos for this hotel imply that it is upscale, but that is not the
case. It's not expensive, the staff is friendly and competent, and it's
not too far away from the city center, but that's the end of the
favorable parts of this review.
The hotel mostly looks like it was nice, once, maybe in the early 80s.
But, maintenance has been lacking: the walls in the hallways and
elevator could use painting, rooms look old and out of date. The images
that they show on their website are all of the honeymoon suite (which
they don't tell you), but even that room (which they gave us for a small
upgrade charge after we complained) was only just average.
The biggest complaint is probably noise: walls are very thin, so anytime
someone walks down the hall or opens the door to their own room, it
sounds exactly like someone is walking into yours, which can be
startling. Also, the heating/AC unit is very loud and sounds like there
are some marbles rolling around in there. This was true both of the
original room we had and later the honeymoon room.
Overall, it's not a bad hotel for the price, but don't let the name fool
you into thinking it's anything classy. Comparable to a Quality Inn or
something of that nature (2 star). |
