The parking garage was scary felt like in the cave, if you look up the ceiling
was very scary. If they assigned your room in the courtyard , be sure not to
have any luggage's because they do not have any elevator but stairs. This hotel
is very outdated.

Our room was warm. I called the front desk several times and all they would do
is send someone up to check the AC, but never to correct the problem. After I
called for the third time, the manager came up to check and offered us another
room, but it was no improvement and wasn't worth the move. Luckily it cooled off
enough at night for us to sleep. If you book with AAA, be sure and have your
agent lock in the free breakfast - otherwise, they won't honor it when you check
in.

Room Tip: Ask for the courtyard. It's quieter.

I stayed in this hotel way back in 1979 with my parents and thought it was
awesome so I decided to stay again when my husband and I went on our summer
holidays. I'm originally from Vancouver and knew the area would be lively at
night so we asked for the highest floor possible. We could still hear noise from
the street with the windows open but we expected that so we were prepared with
ear plugs. We had an awesome view from our balcony. The room had everything we
needed. I wasn't fond of the breakfast we ordered through room service but I'm a
chef and a bit of a picky eater. It was really fun to be able to walk to so many
places and take the bus. The parking lot was a bit hard to find so, once we
found it, we just parked our van and left it there. It was totally safe in there
and I found the cost of parking reasonable. It's not an overly cheap hotel but
compared to other hotels in the area, it's reasonable. I wouldn't want to stay
in a cheaper hotel in a sketchy part of the city. Like I say, I'm a native
Vancouverite so I know which parts to avoid.

I selected this hotel due to its relatively inexpensive price and proximity to
the Vancouver Marathon. I was impressed with the location as it was close to
good restaurants and entertainment. We parked our car in the gated garage and
didn't need to move it for the rest of our trip. Our room was on the fifth floor
and overlooked all the action on Granville Street.
The only negative (and this may be a big one depending on who you are) was that
it was quite loud outside past 3AM. The weekend crowd below kept going on and
on. Since I had an early start time for my half marathon, I wanted to get to bed
early. Despite this I would readily stay here again if I planned on going
downtown. Parking the car and staying downtown is a much better plan than
fighting the horrendous Vancouver traffic.
The hotel gave us a voucher for a free continental breakfast which was nothing
more than a cup of juice and a muffin. I don't care--the place still gets 4
stars.

After reading some reviews, I was a bit dubious about staying here. We found a
great price and decided to give it a try. It turned out to be a nice surprise.
We stayed in the Courtyard building. True, the alleyway between the lobby and
the courtyard is a little sketchy but the courtyard itself is secured with a
lock that is opened with your room key. The courtyard is quite lovely, with a
gazebo and nice flowers. The rooms were quite large and very clean. You can tell
that the building itself is a little older but the rooms have been updated and
are very nice.

Always clean and friendly, yes in a transitional part of town; I always feel
safe here. Love the beds - way comfy. Love the amenities like fridge, microwave
and good coffee machine. Shower heads have been great all 4 times I have stayed.

We stayed there for 5 nights. The room was big, quiet, and comfortable. Most of
the staff were very nice and helpful, especially concerning places to see.
We had a car for a few days during the trip and the parking was easy to access.
However, make sure they charge you the right amount for the parking. We were
charged too much, however it was easy to explain and the mistake was corrected
by the staff.

As an organizer of a team of people attending an event at this hotel, I recieved
a great deal of assistance from Brent O'Connor. He was incredibly helpful and
accommodating. Once I arrived, the front desk staff were all very friendly and
dealt with requests quickly and efficiently. The room was comfortable, room
service was good. The noise from the street could be a bit loud at times, but
that's something out of the control of the people at the hotel.

We've stayed at this hotel a few times, and have always found it to be a pretty
good deal.
The location is amazing, and the tower rooms (we've never stayed in the
courtyard) themselves are clean and cozy. The views from both sides of the tower
are spectacular... the side facing the bulk of downtown is slightly better, of
course. But the Granville Bridge facing side is good too. However, there IS a
$200 deposit to go out on the balcony. Makes taking pictures of said views a bit
tricky. :/ We've also never had a problem with the parking.
There is noise, but this is Granville. There are clubs and bars and therefore
drunk people. But, to us, this is Vancouver...not really a place one should go
for peace and quiet. ;) Light sleepers shouldn't stay on the Granville-facing
side, though. Oh, and the beds? Insanely comfy.
A few gripes, the wifi is slow and unreliable. It's free, so it's not a huge
issue for us but if you need 100% reliable 'net access during your stay, this
isn't it. The biggest problem, though, has been the staff. They've always been
cold, aloof, and far from helpful. When we checked in, the desk clerk couldn't
care less and it showed. On checkout, we interacted with 3 employees and *not
one* of them asked how our stay was. So, yeah, they're rude. But we don't go to
Vancouver to see them, so whatever.
All in all, a great deal for the location and price. We grumble about lame staff
and CRT televisions, but will probably go back on our next trip to Vancouver.
