Guest Review of the Blue Horizon Hotel in Vancouver

We stayed for one night in the Executive Suite. For our use, 5 people (2
adults/3 children) it wasn't an optimal experience. I think it would be well
suited for a business stay or a couple who want high quality and designer
accommodations. The suite was very clean and well appointed with designer wall
coverings and color coordination. Oddly the decoration didn't extend into the
main bathroom which was circa 1970 tile and tub, although clean and well kept.
We were on the 30th floor which has a balcony and an awesome view. Our largest
complaint was the reception lobby is *tiny*. There is room for about two parties
at a time. Get 4 or 5 going and we were pretty much on the public street waiting
our turn. Seems like a nice place, but we wouldn't stay there again either as a
family or as a couple. There just wasn't anything special about it.... Oh and it
is too far from Stanley Park to walk it (with kids). The walk isn't so far but
it is hilly and there were lots of piggy backs involved.

The Blue Horizon provides a perfect location for seeing downtown Vancouver on
foot. You can walk everywhere, from the business district to the West End and
English Bay at Stanley Park. All rooms are large bright corner units, modern
decor, friendly and genuinely helpful staff who really care that you enjoy your
stay. All this at a very competitive price. We'll be back as often as we get a
chance.

The staff was very helpful. It was right downtown so you could walk to all the
shopping. There is alot of traffic in that area. They do have a parking garage
but you have to pay for it. Their restaurant was very good and priced right. We
were on the 17th floor and the view was fantastic. Every room has a corner
window. The rooms are quite spacious.

This hotel is in the heart of Robson Street and caters mainly to business
travelers. The rooms were clean and comfortable and had nice views. We could
walked to Stanley Park and the aquarium. There are a lot of shops and
restaurants in the area. There are no laundry facilities in the hotel. Guest Review of the Blue Horizon Hotel in Vancouver

We stayed in the Blue Horizon for four nights in June 2011. The location was
ideal - right in the middle of everything, only about 15 minutes walk from
Stanley Park. The room was lovely and very big - it had two double beds, no idea
why. We had paid extra for a delux room which is on the top few floors and were
on floor 26. I'm glad we did as the view was beautiful and the best part of the
hotel. We could hear some slight road noise so if you stayed on one of the lower
floors I imagine that might be a problem but didn't disturb us.
One problem we did have was that the hotel didn't have wifi. Their website and
the website that we booked from both advertised free internet connection and we
assumed that this meant wifi as with the vast majority of hotels these days.
When we got there and explained that we needed wifi for work reasons we were
merely told they didn't have wifi and to go to a coffee place. I later learnt
that there was a computer for guest use in the lobby which you had to pay to use
and given that it was important to us I thought they could have offered to allow
us to use this for free occasionally. That would have made our stay much easier
and made us far more satisfied for little cost to them.
That said the room was lovely and clean and the majority of staff were friendly.
I would just be sure not to book if you require wifi.
Room Tip: Book a deluxe room to get on the top floors. |
