Review of the Sunset Inn and Suites Vancouver

I knew I wanted to say in this part of town, off Davie, near Granville
Island, English Bay, and downtown shopping on Robson. Found great
reviews and rates online, and the hotel did not disappoint. I wish the
wallpaper was different and the patio furniture was nicer, but hey, for
what I paid, I would stay here again anytime. Oh, the bed was a lot
firmer than what I am used to, but still fairly comfortable.

We were planning an RV trip around Canada but needed a place to stay for
my family of five for a few days to get over jet lag and to see
Vancouver. I came across the sunset suites via trip advisor and it was a
good option for cost efficiency. We had a fabulous room overlooking the
city. It had plenty of room for the five of us. Very clean, maybe a
little dated but didn't matter. In the centre of town so surrounded by
restaurants and shops. Good base to stay for a city trip. The staff at
the reception were just so helpful. Thanks guys. Def pleased we found
this place on trip advisor. Would definitely recommend it.

We stayed for three nights and loved it. Its a great base to see the
city. Our daughter decided she wanted an apartment just like it (fab
view of city, parks and water, great walking neighborhood, who
wouldn't?). Its in a urban renewal area but not too urban, a mix of low
rise buildings and apartments. Neighborhood felt very safe, even in the
early morning and evenings. We went to the nearby huge community pool in
Stanley Park which we'd highly recommend for families with kids. Only
slight comment; we were travelling with two kids and when both of their
beds were folded down, it made navigation in the main room tight.
Morning breakfast was pretty limited.

We had a one bed roomed suite with 2 sofa beds in the large lounge for
our 2 teenagers. We had struggled to find accommodation with a kitchen &
2 separate beds for our children. Our bed was very comfortable & I'm
told theirs were too. We had plenty of space & everything was very handy
ie places to eat, groceries, beach & sight seeing. The staff were very
helpful & friendly & nothing was too much trouble.
We stayed a few nights before travelling elsewhere in BC & USA & came
back for a few days before flying home. The laundry was v handy too.

We stayed here during late July in an executive large 1 bedroom suite.
The accommodation was perfect for a family of 5 including 3 adult size
teenagers. The location was great being within 10minutes walk from
downtown, 20 minutes from Stanley Park and 3 minutes from Davie street,
a lively shopping and restaurant area. The hotel also provides onsite
parking which is a bonus in Vancouver and the location is actually very
quiet except for the seagulls! The suite was equipped with a well
maintained stove/oven, fridge with freezer and dining area. Only
downside was no dishwasher. The suite was cleaned daily. The laundry
area was adequate to keep us in clean clothes! One positive point was
the soap was provided free of charge which is not often the case. The
breakfast was a bit on the light side but the suite was well equipped
and a short walk to the local supermarket supplemented the meal.
Lastly, the service was friendly and helpful. Dave, our concierge was a
font of local knowledge and a great help. Thank you Dave!! |
