The service was great from all staff - didn't matter we were in the
'residence' part & not the 'hotel'.
Room 356 is a corner room on Burrard & Smithe; not what we asked for but
we only heard sirens during the day...there is hospital 3 blocks away.
The room is fairly standard, nothing fancy about it. could use a new
paint job, but overall for the $$ it was fine.
The pool was nice, but chilly! it also is 1.2 to 1.3 meters...no shallow
end for little kids; but they did have a few pool noodles etc that our
3.5 year old took advantage of.
I can not comment on room service or restaurants as we never ate there.
THe "Marketplace IGA" is across the road & perfect to grab breakfast
items & snacks to have on hand.
I highly recommend the "Pacifico Pizzaria" at 970 Smithe St - not even a
block SE of the hotel. Great food & kid friendly too! Best thin crust
pizza around!
Our concierge recommended "Joey's on Burrard" as being a family friendly
place...but it was too pricey for us with a 3 year old & the only thing
our daughter would eat was sliders off the appy menu as there is no kids
menu.
The curtains are very heavy & keep out a lot of light - excellent when
you have kids!
Overall we will stay here again.

I've stayed in dozens of hotels in Vancouver, but when I want to treat
myself right, I stay at the Sutton. The service is perfect, with
friendliness and efficiency, the rooms are always clean, the location
CANNOT be beat. Right downtown, a block away from robson. The concierge
is always helpful, and always willing to get you any tickets if
possible. The swimming pool is of decent quality, and the weight room is
actually pretty fantastic (DB weights that actually go up to 90-100
which is odd for a hotel).
Worst part of it?
It's not a "good" deal if money is your worry. The restaurant is really
expensive, and is only so so in taste to be honest. I had the concierge
get me hockey tickets a few times, and they always come at scalper
prices (x2-x3 the price depending on if they were playoffs or regular
season). But if you know what you are getting into, and have the money
to burn, they treat you like you want to be treated.
Thinking of that, gotta book my Christmas trip now!

Booked blind through Hotwire 3 nights at start of road trip (whistler,
Jasper, Banff, Emerald Lake, Vancouver island) excellent location on
edge of Robson street, within easy reach of all usual visitor sites.
Excellent Suite, no complaints

This was my first time staying here, and it was great! The outside of
the hotel was stunning at night time with all the clear little lights,
and the lobby was so clean and elegant. We stayed in an apartment type
room, and in such a luxurious hotel, it was nice to have the fridge! The
bathroom was stocked with lots of amenities and was spacious. The room
had a balcony that you could sit out on with a little table, which was
nice. I used the exercise room there, and it was well maintained with a
variety of cardio equipment and weights. The location was great for
getting to public transportation, walking to the Sea Wall, Yaletown, and
Robson. There was lots of restaurants in the area, and even an IGA
across the street. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone
wanting to staying in downtown Vancouver! |
