Guest Reviews of the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver

We stayed at the Fairmont Hotel downtown Vancouver for two nights.
I think my big complaint was that while we received a good rate, and it
was my fault for not asking, the parking came to $43 CDN each day,
blowing my budget. No one ever volunteers this information.
We have stayed in all the Vancouver Fairmont's, as well as Chateau
Whistler, and I can't say this is my favorite one. Loved the dogs in the
lobby, Beau and Mavis, so cute! I even bought the stuffed version in the
room; yes, they got me! I used the fitness facility, and it was just a
short stroll to the Starbucks to get my coffee. Back to the fitness
facility - the second morning, two women and a toddler were in there,
the child was screaming and wandering about while they were semi-working
out, and it was not good, not to mention dangers and a liability for the
Fairmont. I reported it via phone, and a young girl stated she had no
problem with this! (I have encountered several very young employees at
Fairmont's with somewhat flippant attitudes). I then interrupted my
workout and went to the concierge, (she takes Beau home at night--smile)
who was very nice and did not like what she heard and stated she would
ensure the manager was aware of this issue. Other than that, the hotel
was okay. Fairmont's are generally quite good. Good location,
comfortable bed. Great dogs!!

We arrived very late after airline connections from LA to Vancouver did
not work out and were a bit stressed by the time we got to the Fairmont.
The reception staff and concierge were very sympatric and got us to our
room very quickly and even though we were ready for bed, the room was a
great haven with its king size bed and all the fantastic trimmings that
the room had. This was a great start to our future stays at the other
Fairmont hotels during our trip

Good hotel and professional staff.
Rooms and decor show signs of time but are still acceptable and clean.
The downside is definitely the price, both for the room and for the
services they offer. Spent approximately 330$ per night without
breakfast, which they offer for about 30 dollars per guest. Don't be
surprised though, because they charge an outrageous 8$ for a bottle of
water if you inadvertently choose to drink it !!!

I stayed one night as a treat. Check-in was efficient and polite, rather
than warm and friendly. My “Fairmont Gallery room” looked out onto the
Vancouver Art Gallery across the street. Room was comfortable though not
large. (The cost of the room shown on the back of the door was a
ludicrous $2,010 per night! It’s really more like $358.) Nice, soft
sheets on the king-size bed. Nice flat-screen TV. The bar fridge and
goodies tray charge your bill automatically if you so much as move any
item. So you can’t use the fridge for your own things. A bottle of water
costs $8! The only complimentary things were the makings for three cups
of coffee and a few tea bags. Silly single-cup coffee-maker. Dusting is
needed: the bottle of red wine in the cupboard, the desk top, the TV
remote, furniture, etc., were dusty. Industrial-style toilet. No local
phone book in the room. No microwave. No free internet. The concierge
desk has local maps and $1-off coupons for the Art Gallery.

I have stayed in this hotel on a regular basis for the last five years.
it has become a home from home and the staff on the gold floor are like
a second family. Nothing is too much trouble and their understanding of
being a hotelier is outstanding. I was stranded here during the ash
cloud disruption last year and the hotel offered a discount because we
had not anticipated such a long stay.
This hotel is well worth a visit - service, location and cosseting!

This hotel is conveniently located in the downtown business area... only
a short walk to the harbour and the seawall walking trail. This hotel
has been around for quite some time but still is a gem! The room is
clean, the beds are comfy and the interior is posh! |
