Great location, only a block to skyway. Easy trip to and from airport,
even with lots of luggage. Free wifi, microwave and mini fridge for
leftovers. Great location in Gastown, which we liked much better than
Yaletown.

You could not get a more convenient location for tourist activities in
Vancouver. This hotel is one block from the Waterfront Station, where
you can get on several different train lines, ferries and buses to go
almost anywhere in the area.
The front desk staff is extraordinarily friendly and attentive. They
were all very knowledgeable about how to get to key places via public
transportation -- something I find lacking in many concierges in big
luxury hotels. They were patient and helpful to everyone I saw them
talking to.
It is a very short walk to Gastown, where you can find a big variety of
places to eat lunch or dinner (some of them VERY touristy), and where
several good galleries of First Nations art are located. Also a very
short walk to Canada Place and the convention center. It is a slightly
longer walk to Chinatown.
I did nothing special to get a good room, but the one I had was
excellent. It was on a corner of the building, and two walls next to the
bed were all glass. Not much of a view (too many other tall buildings
nearby), but great light.
The one big negative is the exorbitant fee for Internet at this hotel --
$18 a day, and there is no free wireless anywhere in the hotel. For
shame.

Very friendly welcome, and we were upgraded to a suite without asking.
Room was spacious, very clean and comfortable, we loved it. Weren't too
impressed with the one breakfast we had, but the meal in the bar late
one evening was really good, enhanced by Michael, our very personable
barman.
We'd definitely return.

Reception was gracious and helpful. The bell men helped in every way
they can from luggage to dinner recommendations. Everyone there wants
you to have a good time and be comfortable. The beds, linens, pillows
were all top notch. A wonderful place to stay. Very near the "Big Bus
route" for sight seeing. Some very good restaurants near by.

I stayed here w/my husband for 9 nights (he was in town on business). We
stayed on the club floor and had access to the signature lounge.
Breakfast there had one hot item, and many cold items (yogurt, fruit,
breads, pastries, cold cuts, juices). Dinner was 2-3 hot hors dovres,
crudites, meats/cheeses and drinks available on the honor system. I
don't think anyone could really make a meal for dinner. When there was
no food service, there was always a bowl of fruit and coffee/tea/soda
available.
The suites are a very good size, very comfortable beds and big bathroom.
Internet access was free and quick. What really impressed me was that
the maid who did the turn down service also emptied garbage, replenished
towels, left water and chocolates. Anything I asked for what given in
plenty (such as the maple candies).
The signature club workers called me by name as I went in--I'm assuming
maybe the keycard triggered that? Or they knew after a couple days?
The location is great. The skytrain is only a block away, and the city
center maybe 2 blocks. I found 2 great used bookstores a block away.
Gastown is a 10 minute walk. Taxis were plentiful. |
