Guest Review of the Blue Horizon Hotel in Vancouver
19 September 2011
We spent one night at the Blue Horizon between coming off a cruise and returning
home. We had booked it both on price and location - downtown on trendy
Robsonstrasse. I will review the room first - excellent - large, comfortable
bed, bathroom is fine, large HD TV, coffee maker, quiet, corner suite - all are,
I think. The negatives are in getting up there. There is a restaurant on the
ground floor which takes up a lot of space and leaves very little lobby space.
When you get people both checking out and trying to check in (or at least leave
their luggage) there is pandemonium. Maybe Saturdays are the worst - lots of
luggage belonging to people joining or leaving cruises. And not enough staff to
deal with all of this. Only three elevators to serve a 25 storey hotel. One
strong recommendation - try to arrive outside a peak check out/in time. We had
breakfast at the restaurant - Inlets - and it was fine - good food, pleasant
young staff. They can also provide good cocktails in the evening when it sort of
changes character.

In the heart of the shopping district. Nice, BIG rooms with a tiny bathroom,
lots of windows and a nice balcony. Parking is an extra $15/day. Tour bus stops
outside the front door. In an Asian area. Great value for the money.

Location on Robson is perfect. Everything about the hotel is attractive.
Especially the room which was spacious and well decorated in a relaxing blue.
Good bell service. Desk personnel ok but not great. Off lobby, restaurant very
good for breakfast and priced well.
The exterior walling of the building has a glazed blue shaded material. Nice.

This was my first trip to Vancouver and I've fallen in love with this city. The
Blue Horizon Hotel is what every boutique hotel should be. Beautiful rooms,
friendly staff and a great location. . The hotel's central location was perfect
for exploring every area of the city-many on foot. The hotel is surrounded by
dozens of great restaurants many of them of varying Asian cuisine. My room was
lovely appointed in a sleek minimalist style that fits this sleek modern city.
The room had a gorgeous view facing Robson Street from which the entire city
could be viewed. I can't wait to stay at this hotel again when I visit next
year.

Spent 4 nights at the Blue Horizon in July. Our room was on the 20th floor and
had great views from the balcony.
We booked through here and got a slightly better rate
We didn't go in the pool/Jacuzzi but did visit them; they looked a bit grotty to
be honest so I would suggest visiting the outside pool by Stanley Park/the sea
wall instead.
Breakfast at the hotel was nice but pricey.
The hotel has a great location; right by the shopping district and we walked to
Stanley Park. There are plenty of restaurants right on the doorstep.
Compared to other hotels in Vancouver this hotel was reasonably priced for the
location. |
