Guest Reviews of the Best Western Sands Hotel Vancouver

We were scheduled to embark on a Celebrity cruise to Alaska and so we booked
into the Best Western Sands Plus hotel since it was close by.
Probably the worst part was that a few weeks later when we were home from our
vacation my husband received an email from the manager asking him to rate his
experience at the hotel. When he responded with our honest opinion the manger
emailed him back and said he would only agree with the fact that the air
conditioner didn't work and was going to disregard all our other comments. My
husband then responded to the manager that if he didn't want an honest response
he shouldn't have asked!Guest Reviews of the Best Western Sands Hotel Vancouver

My husband and I stayed here for one night last week. We found ourselves in
Vancouver a night early so walked in and Paulette on reception was so friendly
and helpful in getting us a beautiful room for the night. We overlooked the
street but could see the water from our room which was lovely. The room itself
was great and couldn't fault the location. The only shame with the room was the
water pressure in the shower- I had to lay down in the bath to wash my hair on
the end. We went to the hotels bar checkers on the first night and it was very
busy with karaoke going on and was great for an evening. We also had breakfast
there the next morning and it was excellent. Jackie was very friendly and
helpful and great to give tips on where to go! Overall greet night!

Myself, my hubby & 2 of our good friends stayed at this hotel last week. We
loved it because it was walking distance to English Bay and Stanley Park.
Beautiful area in Vancouver! The staff were fantastic, we had a few problems
using our card and they instantly tried to help, so pleased with their service.
We also used their neighboring pub Checkers for breakfast everyday (very
reasonable!), very tasty, again the staff were super friendly. We also had lunch
at the Checkers and Tea at the Bayside Bar both very good. Our rooms were big
and the beds really comfortable. Overall great time had by all!!

The Vancouver part of our journey was towards the end of a 3 week adventure. I
had heard a lot about Vancouver and it certainly lived up to my expectations.
The hotel was fairly basic, small size room and I did have some problems working
out how to use the air conditioning. That said, the bed was comfortable and
facing out on to Davie Street, might have expected more noise than there was.
The staff were brilliant, both at reception and in the bar/restaurant. This was
the best service that we received in Canada, they couldn't have been more
friendly or helpful. Vancouver was a great experience and I wish that we had
spent more time there as there is so much to do. Did whale watching from
Steveston, visited Vancouver Island and Butchart Gardens - amazing!!, Grouse
Mountain, the Hop on/off buses, Stanley Park, Gas Town, it just goes on and on.
We will be back one day and this hotel is potentially our base.

We had the hardest time picking where to stay in Vancouver and we finally
decided on the Sands. It was a good choice. The room was great. We were on the
5th floor overlooking Davie street. It was a bit noisy, but nothing we couldn't
handle. The beds were comfy, loved the pillows, the decor was very nice and I
loved the complimentary amenities. The front desk staff was great, very
friendly, very helpful. The restaurant was prompt and yummy and the staff was
very nice. The air conditioner wasn't great, and I had the hardest time getting
the water in the shower right. But overall, we would stay here again. It's in a
great location within walking distance to Stanley Park, as well as to a Big Bus
stop. Thanks for everything! |
