It is what you will expect from a European style boutique hotel. They
pay attention to fine details, good-quality material, nice/clean room,
and convenient downtown location. However, they offer almost nothing for
free, from parking, breakfast to internet. So it feels so much like
hotel, not feel at home. That alone, i will choose a different place
next time. Also view is just ok.
One tip: instead of valet parking @ $40 a night, parking on the street
is not too difficult. Most spots in the neighboring area (2-3 minutes
walking distance) parking is free from 6-7pm to 8-9am. each spot is
different, just read the sign before you park.

We came for a weekend visit and stay two nights and had a comfortable
stay. Our room was on the l9th floor and had an enormous window that
allowed lots of daylight in so that was nice. There was lots of counter
space in the bathroom. The furnishings was nice but typical hotel decor.
The lobby was grand but somewhat small. It seemed that every seat was
taken by guests whenever we were coming and going from the hotel. There
were a couple of big groups and a wedding party staying here so lobby
was always busy.
The best reason for staying here was it's across the street from our
favorite French restaurant "Le Crocodile".
This review is tough because I'm comparing our room with last year stay
at another boutique hotel where I thought the room was much more cozier
and had modern comfortable furniture. Originally, we had plans to stay
at this hotel but at the last minute we had to change our dates and they
did not have rooms available so chose Sutton Place for our backup plan.
We did not go through a second party booking agency so paid the full
room rate of $300 (including taxes) per day. Additional $80 for the
parking garage fee for two nights. Although, the staff was very nice, I
would say that next time we come for a visit we will return to our
favorite hotel from last year.

I stayed two nights on a bargain deal so I think it was good for the
money I spent. If you are into the historic and elegant type of hotels
then this is for you. Its located in a good location, walking distance
to a lot of the downtown area. I paid the extra $$ for valet parking and
I thought they provided us with excellent service with the in and out
use. The pipe for the shower head that extends from the wall was loose
and I could move the shower head all around. I would think that
housekeeping would catch this and have it fixed. If I return to
Vancouver, I think I will try another place.

The Sutton Place is top notch, from the service to the rooms and it's in
an excellent location - on Burrard, steps away from Robson St and it's
excellent restaurants and shopping. Movie theatre and grocery store just
across the street. BC Place is a 10 min walk down Robson. With a
membership in their Prestige program there's no charge for WIFI or
parking. All in all, good value, great facilities and unbeatable
location.

Overall, the Sutton Place is a good quality hotel but our trip was full
of niggles, such as the sudden closure of the pool and numerous small
problems in our room. |
