Review of the Quality Inn Hotel Vancouver
20 September 2011
Almost all friends and family from out of town stayed at the Quality Inn
at False Creek. It was most enjoyable, from the arrival to departure.
great front desk folks (esp. Al, who had a sense of humor to cheer
everyone). The rooms were very nice. The price was right. The location
so perfectly central in Vancouver. We all had a fantastic wedding
holiday and the Quality Inn added to the experience. The only downside
was the construction happening on both sides of hotel (I had earplugs,
so it was ok). The suites were quiet because of their design.

Good value for the location; luckily we were upgraded to a suite and
found our room to be roomy and convenient for our needs. I used the
small pool for a wake-up swim, although major construction on both sides
of the hotel was unnerving (no fault of the hotel). The hotel could use
a face lift, but the proximity to Granville Market and downtown made
this a pleasant stay.

I haven't explored much of downtown Vancouver and decided to take
advantage of a weekend wedding in the area to do so.
I had booked the room a few weeks prior to my arrival with some friends.
On the day of arrival we did call in advance to check-in earlier. This
was told it was not a problem. I found the man on the found to be polite
and helpful.
Once at the inn, this was a completely different story.
The woman at the front desk did not greet us (no smile, no friendly
greeting). When we told her we were here to check in, she just sneered
and said "Not possible".
Excuse me?
Her co-worker was luckily in the know and informed her that we had
called in.
She them proceeded to slam our keys and parking permit on the desk.
Completely unpleasant. And un-called for as we were all being polite and
friendly towards her.
I work for this industry and I was completely APPALLED by this behavior.
I make reservations for people visiting from all over the world and if
THIS is what I am booking them into, then I must say, I am embarrassed.
I have to say, I have had bad days working in tourism. Perhaps this was
the situation. Whatever it is, SMILE. Always smile. No matter how crappy
your day is.
Anyways, I hate writing these and hopefully this was just ONE bad day
for her. That little incident didn't make us feel very welcomed.
Other then that, the rooms were nice and clean. Location was good.

My wife and I stayed here for three nights this August. The hotel is in
a really handy locations: great for False Creek and Granville Island and
downtonw an easy 20 minute walk away. We had a room at the front, just
above the outside lights, but the blackout blinds took care of the light
and the A/C blocked out the traffic-so sleeping was no problem. We
enjoyed breakfast and a couple of evening meals in the restaurant: the
service was friendly and prompt. The staff were very helpful: we were
very grateful to the guy who recommended the local bike hire as a way of
touring Vancouver: it was a fantastic day. All in all, a good place to
stay.

Although room was comfortable the whole place is rather tired and in
need of a refurbishment. The catering is a bit of a joke. From an
inedible dinner to a long wait to get a seat for breakfast and an even
longer wait to get breakfast, this hotel needs some serious management
attention on the catering side. |
