Guest Review of the Loden Hotel Vancouver
17 October 2011
I stayed here from Sept 29-Oct 1, 2011 for business. This hotel
is beautifully decorated. The rooms are stunning! I especially
loved the heated floors and speakers in the bathroom. This is
the most technologically advanced hotel I've been to. You could
even connect an Ipod to the alarm clock, which also worked on
the speakers in the bathroom. The room did not have an ironing
board, so I struggled to steam my work clothes with the mini
steamer that was provided.
The breakfast room service menu was disappointing. You cannot
order a simple order of eggs, bacon and toast. The only egg
option is hard boiled. The only meat option is in a breakfast
sandwich. I asked if I could get scrambled eggs and bacon and
they said no. I don't understand why they don't offer this as
the food comes from the Hotel restaurant downstairs, Tableu.
Your choices consist of oatmeal, granola with yogurt and other
healthy items. I called ahead and asked for my 'healthy'
breakfast to arrive at a certain time. It arrived 30 mins early.
The cream had chunks of ice, the butter was so hard I couldn't
butter my toast and the salt/pepper holder only contained
pepper.
I stayed in a room close to the elevator, and I could not sleep
the first night. It sounded like a subway rumbling all night. It
was extremely frustrating. I had no problem sleeping the next
night because I was so exhausted.
The sushi restaurants near this hotel closed at 8pm on a
Saturday.
This hotel does not have a fitness centre/steam room or spa. You
can call the front desk to arrange to have spa services. They
have professionals who come to the hotel for appointments only.

I can not rate this hotel any higher. The Loden hotel is a chic
boutique hotel close to the waterfront and close to Robson St
shops. We arrived very early with our young son, tired from a
long overnight flight. Our suitcases and check in were dealt
very efficiently. We were so grateful. The service at this hotel
was excellent, nothing was too hard, always with a smile. A few
hours later I woke up with a bad jet lag, needed a caffeine fix,
could not find the kettle. The front desk staff, promptly
organized some green tea with a pot of hot water to take to the
room.
We booked the room with the private water garden terrace, so
soothing and tranquil in the middle of the city. The room was
perfect, very modern, Hi tech and tastefully decorated. I would
love to have this interior designer to design my house!! When we
first arrived, we found a fresh pitcher of water and glasses,
with some Lindt chocolates on the bedside table, and
some clean slippers ready next to the bed....what else can one
expect??
The hotel also provided bikes. I booked one for 7am, one was
ready and waiting, complete with helmet, lock and a bottle of
water to take! All with a smile from the concierge and front
desk staff. Whenever we needed a taxi, one seemed to appear
instantaneously, the staff went out their way to call or hail
one themselves.
One last thing, the fitness centre (gym) is amazing!! The best
equipments, treadmills with touch screen and personal TV screen
with a sport headphone provided. Of course towel and water is
provided. It was squeaky clean, not a drop of sweat stain to be
seen!

We booked an upgraded room for our Anniversary get-away. We have
stayed at the Loden once before and thoroughly enjoyed the funky
boutique feel.
The room we got had been smoked in and staff were very quick to
give us a new room. We were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded
to the penthouse suite for our troubles. We would defintely stay
here again.

This is a very convenient hotel location for downtown Vancouver.
Close to Coal Harbour and the convention, the hotel has very
friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are very quiet and well
designed with comfortable beds, wonderful deep soaking tub and
great shower, although a little extra water pressure would be
nice. My husband and I were there for business but would stay
there again when visiting. |
