Review of the Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel Vancouver

Terrible place. The staff are unfriendly and unprofessional. The hotel
itself is unpleasant and old.
Our room actually had a pre-filled out comment card with a fake rave
review. The continental breakfast comes with an unpleasant woman
screaming "NO FOOD TO ROOM!!!!" at anyone who so much looks at the door.
Also, the internet wasn't working when we stayed there.

When i booked the hotel site showed a bar/bistro with meals when i
arrived there was nothing. I had to walk down the road to get something
to eat and after flying 16 hours from Australia this did not sit well.
The hotel needs extensive renovations. Don't advertise bars, bistro's
and menus if you don't have them. Not impressed

The hotel is relatively inexpensive, given that it is very close to
downtown Vancouver. You still need to drive. It is about 5-10 minutes to
downtown and about 10-15 minutes to Stanley Park. The hotel staff were
very friendly. The overall quality of the room was acceptable (once
again, given the price). The free continental breakfast (for the first
two persons in the room) was just fine. I would consider going there
again

I picked this hotel mainly because of its location and the fact that it
offered free parking. During check-in I realized that the receptionist
was from the same country as I was so we had a little talk and she
kindly explained to me how to get to the city centre and provided me
with a map. The hotel's location is very good, it's only 10 km away from
the airport, and the downtown can be reached by bus that stops near the
hotel. The room was a of a standard size, exactly what you would find in
any other hotel in the Wyndham chain. Free internet access is available
via Wifi or the business centre. The hotel has its own restaurant and a
bar, and vending machines with drinks and snacks are also present.
Overall, I rate this hotel an excellent choice for guests who arrive by
car and don't want to be charged for parking, as well as for those who
need to stay closer to the airport, yet not too far from downtown. I
would stay again.

I have never had a problem, but this hotel is most definitely not the
kind of hotel I expect to. Our room was horrible. For $ I expect to at
least be comfortable in the room. We were on a trip of a lifetime and
this room/hotel experience reduced me to tears. The room smelled
horrible, the comforter was filthy, there were holes burned in the
blanket and the wallpaper was peeling, the remote control for the TV was
literally falling apart, the walls were paper thin. We heard the guy
next to us coughing all night! On top of it we had no control of the
heat/air. We literally froze and finally at 11:00 PM we called the front
desk telling them we couldn't figure out how to control the air/heat,
only to find out that they controlled the air/heat for the whole
building. We froze the entire night.
Check out.
Just about everything.
