Guest Review of the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel Vancouver
20 September 2011
We stayed at the Fairmont Waterfront at the start of our tour of the Rockies. We
had travelled from Toronto to Vancouver by plane and the hotel sent a limo to
collect us from the airport.
The accommodation had been booked by the Rocky Mountaineer as part of our tour
of their Journey through the Clouds Discovery Drive, RM had booked all
accommodation and travel for us and everything was very good.
We arrived at the hotel and were taken up to the Gold Floor reception. It was a
beautiful sunny day and our room wasn't yet ready. We sat on the terrace of the
Gold Lounge and enjoyed the view sipping a glass of wine from the honesty bar.
Our room was large and spacious and very well equipped. The bed was really
comfortable.
The Gold Floor staff were lovely, very helpful attentive and charming.
The hotel is ideally located to tour Vancouver and has super views. Highly
recommended.

My wife and I stayed at the Fairmont Waterfront prior to our recent cruise. This
hotel has always been our favorite in Vancouver as the service is normally
fantastic and the location terrific. Unfortunately, staying there really caused
a problem for our cruise vacation. The hotel offered to deliver our luggage
across the street to the cruise ship terminal at Canada Place to be delivered to
our cabin onboard the ship. Our luggage was properly tagged and we thought
everything was great. Boy were we wrong. They took the luggage across the street
to Canada Place pier, but split up the delivery so that one of our pieces was
placed aboard the wrong cruise ship! We never did receive this piece of luggage.
It has supposedly been located and is to be shipped to our home, but we didn't
have the benefit of having our belongings at all during our cruise vacation. It
was a 12 day cruise, and the luggage mishandling really put a damper on the
vacation.
I'm sorry I trusted the Fairmont to deliver the luggage across the street. I
should have done it myself. My travel agent contacted them to let them know of
the situation. They responded that they would be contacting me. So far, no
communication has been received from them, and I find that very disappointing
for a hotel that professes a luxury experience.
The Fairmont failed to deliver on this trip, and really contributed to souring
what would have been a wonderful cruise vacation. I will have to think twice
about staying there again, especially since they don't appear to be interested
enough to even contact me.
My word of advice: if you stay with them, the stay will most likely be enjoyable
(and expensive), but think twice about letting them handle you luggage!

Stayed at the Fairmont Waterfront before and after a cruise along the inside
passage. The room we had was large with very comfortable kingsize bed and a very
roomy and lavish bathroom with fantastic views across Vancouver Bay. The
assistance we received for getting to the port, dining out at night and also
various tours was excellent. All staff that we dealt with were always very
helpful.

We booked a room at a very nice 20th anniversary rate and were given an upgrade
to a large room with a great harbour view. Enjoyed our stay to the fullest. Nice
pool. Nice setting. Busy coming and going as a large hotel should have. Very
efficient concierge. Great service, except for housekeeping forgetting to
restock coffee and minibar. |
