Noisy into the wee hours of the morning; strong chemical and cigarette smoke
smells that didn't subside even after 3 days stay; loud hotel patrons shouting
and banging on walls in hallway at night; had to pay a 200. cc authorization and
sign a liability waver to open windows in room

We were first giving a smaller room then what we booked. But the staff corrected
the mistake very fast. The room was quiet and clean. The view and the balcony
were great. There was a Big bus stop just at the door of the hotel. Restaurants
are just a short walk from the hotel.

I booked a king bed suite with 30 days advance payment for 139 CAD which is a
reasonable price for a hotel in the very center of Vancouver. You get a 2 room
suite with a huge, comfortable bed. Last night we stayed in a 70 CAD best value
inn in Kamloops which was horrible. This is such a difference! well, it is not a
design hotel and looks outdated from outside but the inside is quite nice. you
step out the door and are in the shopping and nightlife district. I read a lot
of Vancouver hotel reviews about noise - guys, you are downtown in a big city ;)
I slept really well here. Parking was extra but you don't get free parking
downtown. If you don't want to pay for parking stay outside of downtown. but
then you visit downtown and need to pay for parking anyway. we had everything in
walking distance (Gastown,
Chinatown,
Yaletown, even
Stanley Park is reachable by
foot). breakfast is not included but you find plenty of coffee shops in 5min
distance and the hotel breakfasts in north america are mostly ---anyway. Liked
Vancouver and the hotel. If you go out for dinner and really want something good
- try Sanafir which is an tapas restaurant. it is 3min from the hotel.

This is a great location in Vancouver even though there are some questionable
adult shops close by. The king size rooms are like small suite size with sep.
large bedroom which is great for travel and privacy. I do question the quality
of the seating in the living room however. The sofas and chairs are filled with
concrete like foam - not comfortable at all. The beds are wonderfully
comfortable though and if you are there for medical reasons St. Paul's hospital
is within a short walking distance. There is a fridge and microwave in the room
which is very convenient. Private safe parking available for additional charge.
The location is ideal as it is close to anything and everything wonderful in
Vancouver BC.

We stayed in the garden suites that are located behind the main tower, across
the alley (an alley that is well lit and clean, I should add). You go through a
secure metal door that opens with your room card, into a very nice private
garden with nice trees, plants and a gazebo. There are 3 sections of rooms, with
about 10 rooms per section.
The room we were in was the basic queen bed room, which was an average size,
looked to have been renovated recently (very tastefully) and very clean. The
best part of this room was how quiet it was. There are no long hallways with
people wandering up and down them; we only had one direct neighboring room on
this floor. I could hear absolutely no noise from the busy streets of downtown
Vancouver outside. Add to all this a wonderfully comfortable memory foam (I
think) bed and I had some of the best sleeps I have had in a long time - and I'm
a light sleeper. This hotel also offers free passes to the Steve Nash Fitness
Center a couple of blocks away - excellent facility!
The ONLY cons to this place - there was no view (wall of building right next
door - but this is probably why you couldn't hear street noise), there is no
fridge and the cable TV is basic only - minimal channels. None of these was any
hardship to us - I would gladly stay in the Garden Suites of the Chateau
Granville again - quiet, secure, comfortable!!!

The hotel is located close to downtown Vancouver. The accommodation part of the
hotel is older and is of a moderate 'high rise' construction. Our rooms was on
the 12th floor, there were three or four above us.
\the bedrooms are comfortable, ours comprising a sitting room aea with a door to
the bedroom. The Bathroom is off the sitting room area. The accommodation was
very comfortable but the sound insulation could be better in terms of
eliminating traffic noise. Everything was spotlessly clean.
The restaurant was not used by us, but I can comment that this is quite modern
and stylish. The bar looked very well stocked.

i stayed here on my way to and from Vancouver island.
the first time around my experience was horrible. i wasn't greeted when i
entered and was generally ignored until i walked up and waved to the lady at the
front desk. the entire conversation was very cold and impolite. i was told that
they dont let people check in early and might need to wait. i arrived at 2:30
and the check in time was 3. i was given my key and a ticket for my car. she did
not know about things i could do around the city and directed me to a table that
had a map. i was told quite briskly that there will be no room service. when i
asked when breakfast is open at the in house restaurant i was told, quite
rudely, to go and talk to the someone in the restaurant. all in all i was very
dissatisfied with the service provided. the room however was clean and well
stocked.
the 2nd time around the staff was much more polite. i called and asked if it was
possible to get me in early. they were able to accommodate me. Ben and Chris, i
believe were their names, not only helped me change my room from the courtyard
to the main building but also were very helpful in telling me about things to
see and do. the room was again pretty clean.
overall i'd say that it depends on the servers that you get.
only go here if need a place to spend the night and that's about it.
