I m not sure why there were so many bad reviews earlier for this hotel but I
like it. I m not expecting to stay in a 5 star hotel by paying less than $100
for a night in summer. Our room got nice mountain view. We went for some
restaurants close to this hotel. There r many options. Overall impression is not
that bad. We like Vancouver and we will definitely come to Vancouver again next
year!

This place has an attractive list of amenities and nice-looking photos, and so
when we saw how cheap it was, we thought it must be due to the neighborhood it's
in. Well, the neighborhood is indeed not a good one, but I would say that given
how crappy the hotel actually was, we should have been paying even less than we
did. Yes, they do have some nice amenities (microwave and WiFi, etc.), but they
get their money back by doing things like not carpeting under your bed (it was
just bare concrete), stowing junk in the parking area, using IKEA lamps as the
only nod to modern decor, not re-caulking over the moldy grout in the shower,
and not bothering to air out the rooms. And the mattress and pillow really were
*incredibly* uncomfortable--saggy, lumpy, you name it. I'm not a person with
high expectations in the mattress/pillow department, but having to pay for that
level of discomfort was insulting.

Do not believe in any single of the EXCELLENT reviews. This hotel is the worst
hotel I have ever been in North America. I do extensive travel around the
Continent, and not even in the poorest country in South America you find such a
poor maintained motel.
You are coming to the famous Vancouver so please don't tint that experience by
staying in that piece of junk.
Oh, why I ended up there???? thanks to my money saver office manager

Apparently photos can be very deceiving. From the outside throughout is an aging
Inn with a few attempts to update on the inside but the wear and tear is
showing. (popcorn ceiling, shower faucets that cannot quite close, awful hall
carpet, plastic flowers in room, etc.) The heater did not work in the room at
all but blew cold air - it was freezing in the room. When we complained the
staff brought a space heater that solved the problem but clearly they have it
for just such a reason. There was a cobweb in the ceiling and there were two
small towels and hand towels (no wash clothes) and the hand towels both had oil
stains that had been bleached but were still present.
The staff as reviews said were very friendly and helpful. However, from reviews
on their site I expected a much better experience. I would put this as a clean
low grade hotel.

Dated decor and fixtures, smells, noisy, old windows, bathroom fixtures old and
worn, rooms were cleaned well enough by cleaners on a daily basis but lots of
ground in grime and dirt in the corners. Still have the drywall dust beside the
bed from a picture I'm sure was hung years ago. unfinished patched drywall. Old
crappy fuzzy 20" TV.
Not near downtown, Area doesn't seem to be anything special although I had a
rental car so I didn't check it out too much. Small tight Secure underground
parking was free.
I booked this off of Travelocity "Secret Hotel" for $56 inclusive per night for
2, they rated it at a 3 star and it is not in my opinion. I guess you get what
you pay for, If I paid any more than this I would feel ripped off.
FYI - they charge you for a code to get on the internet -I think it is $6 for 24
hours, they require a $150 deposit and check the room before you leave.

The hotel is very close to Metrotown, a huge shopping malls. The atmosphere is
very cozy and chic. The front desk service is helpful and staff is extremely
accommodating. The room I stayed was a lot larger than I expected.
I would stay here again and recommend it to anyone!

Good Vancouver Hotel Option
What the Cassandra lacks in style it more than makes up for in customer service,
something which is important and rare to find these days. The staff was always
friendly and quick to answer questions or see to it that problems with the room
were taken care of. There was no problem with canceling our last night and the
Hotel promptly refunded that cost. Again, very helpful and easy to work with.
The hotel is a close walk to the monorail and a quick drive to downtown
Vancouver. All in all I’d stay there again and recommend it to other travelers
who don’t mind a hotel with some rough edges. -LK

Very good when you’re not looking for luxury, just convenient.
The room price was a very good deal and I was very happy with the services I
received. Cassandra Hotel is a quiet, intimate, clean and secure place. I spent
two nights there during the Thanksgiving week-end, while I have visited points
of interest in Downtown Vancouver. Being situated on Kingsway, the hotel is
10-20 minutes away from any interesting place in Vancouver. The last morning
we’ve taken a dip in the hot tub that was not crowded at all. The three hotel
stars are very much deserved. The receptionists were friendly and polite.

Not what it used to be.
I have stayed at this hotel on at least three other occasions but I don’t
remember my room being so neglected. I only saw one cleaning lady and she got to
my suite very late in the afternoon. I did not sleep in the sheets, but used a
sleeping bag from a family member. The bathroom was the worst, it just wasn’t
clean. And no smell of any cleaning aid was present. The chair had part of the
upholstery torn off and one of the drapes was off its hooks for the entire ten
days. Skimped back to one complimentary coffee and rarely was the coffee area
wiped down. The hotel carpeting looks dreadful and needs cleaning or tearing out
in the worst way especially the first floor. Otherwise the laundry worked just
fine. Will not stay again. Rates way too high for what you received.

Very nice hotel with trendy and comfortable room. Definitely qualified for
higher star. Room has north shore mountain view. Duvet beddings r pretty
comfortable. I will definitely come back again. Much better than I expected.
