Guest Review of the Blue Horizon Hotel in Vancouver

We loved staying at the Blue Horizon. It has a great location on Robson Street
with fantastic views and small balconies. It is well worth the money to get a
Superior Room on floors 15 to 30 with a waterview. We were there the last
weekend of July when they did amazing fireworks over the water. Rather than
fight the crowds to get to the beach to watch the display, we were able to watch
from our balcony. We had large windows that wrapped around almost two entire
sides of the room - the kids loved it. The breakfast in the restaurant
downstairs was well priced and delicious. Fun to sit at the outside tables in
the evening. Excellent service and food. We also enjoyed being close enough to
walk down to Stanley Park for the horse-drawn carriage ride around the park and
visiting the Aquarium - one of the best and largest in North AmericaGuest Review of the Blue Horizon Hotel in Vancouver

We stayed one night here at the end of an Alaskan cruise. It is well located on
Robson Street, has large rooms (two beds), good amenities, a balcony and is
reasonably priced. The HOHO trolley stop is just outside the front door. The
lobby is small and can be overly crowded at times of check-in and check-out. The
restaurant has a good, reasonably priced breakfast, outdoor seating and a lounge
area indoors for cocktails.

We stayed on the 27th floor of a well maintained hotel. Our room was large, the
view was tremendous, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay on the Thursday we
arrived. The room had all the amenities--safe, refrigerator, a very comfortable
bed and nice TV. The room looks like it had been remodeled recently. The
employees were all friendly and helpful.
In short, we were thrilled with our accommodations.
Friday night was different. The hotel did not change. The room was still
immaculate. But the clientele changed. The neighbors partied very late and we
could hear the noise quite clearly. At midnight, we called the front desk to
request quiet and they responded within 5 minutes. We were able to fall asleep.
At about 3:30AM, the fire alarm went off. We stayed in our room, figuring that
there was no hope of escaping from the 27th floor. The fire trucks came, but
there was no fire. After the commotion ended, two people from two different
rooms were standing in the hall have a lengthy conversation. I went out to see
what the discussion was about. One lady said that earlier in the evening,
someone had tried to enter her room while she was sleeping. She thinks someone
got off the elevator at the wrong floor. At 4AM, all was quiet again. When I
checked out, I told the clerk at the front desk my evening experience. She told
me that if I ever have a problem, call the front desk and they will respond
immediately.
If I stay here again, it will only be during the week. It is a very nice hotel
in an excellent location. If you are young and like to party, there is a lot of
night life and good restaurants nearby.

Selected this hotel for a business trip because the website looked good, and the
prices were a little better than other nearby properties. Online booking was not
a problem, though I had to call them later to make a change, as it could not be
done online. The room was large with a great closet. The beds were comfy and the
pillows very good. The lap pool is kind of small, but did the trick, and the hot
tub was warm, but not hot. The sauna is not kept on so, unless you turn it on
and wait an hour (maybe more), you will not enjoy your sauna. My only real
complaint with the property was the heat in the hallways and elevators...
bearable, but greatly uncomfortable. I hate working up a sweat just standing
still.

Blue Horizon is a fab hotel in a great location. There's loads of nice
restaurants in walking distance and the area has a good feel and seems really
safe.
The bedrooms are MASSIVE! We booked a regular room which had 2 beds, coffee
maker and lots and lots of room. The beds were extremely comfortable and the
balcony had a good view over the city. The space was a real bonus and I think if
you were staying in Vancouver for a while you could bring loads of luggage and
still have enough room to swing a cat.
We didn't use the (very mini) gym or pool but it was nice to have the option,
nor did we eat in the attached restaurant as it didn't seem to offer good value
compared to nearby (and numerous) other options.
A small downside was the lack of interest from hotel staff. Check in/out was
fine but only just friendly and this stopped my rating from being 5/5. Other
than that, a great hotel to which I would happily return and recommend to
friends.
