Guest Reviews of the Best Western Sands Hotel Vancouver

Although not close to the Skytrain stations, bus service is quite convenient for
anyone staying at the Sands. Additionally, great restaurants, groceries, various
services (pharmacies, bike rentals), Stanley Park, English Bay, False Creek are
within walking distance. Service from hotel staff was great and some good
coupons for Sands-owned eateries were provided at check-in time. I would
recommend requesting a room on the north side of the complex (facing the alley)
as the aforementioned buses tend to make a bit of noise that could disturb the
light sleeper.

It is a nice hotel, good location, great and helpful front desk staff. Nice walk
to ocean and Stanley Park. Close to many eating places. Restaurant and bar on
location. Super helpful staff. Even the maids are friendly.

Had a night here late SEP 2011. The location is great, just a stones throw to
the water and park and the celebrated sea wall walk. The place feels more like a
motel than a full blown hotel. She is a little tired around the edges, just a
bit of a 70's vibe. We had a great room, top floor, good views down over the
park and bay. Nice balcony to sit on as well. The bathroom was a bit on the
small side.
Would I stay again? Perhaps. I did spend a few nights in the Sandman up the hill
on Davie Street, which probably had the edge over the sands due to central
location and apartment style rooms - with views from the highrise tower.

This hotel couldn't have suited us better, the location was superb and ideal for
exploring English Bay and the West End, including Stanley Park. All the staff
were extremely helpful, polite and courteous, both during our stay and prior to
it when they offered great advice for transport to and from Vancouver Airport
which is about 30 minutes away by taxi.
A big thank you to all the staff at the Sands, you made our trip to Vancouver
very enjoyable, and we would have no hesitation in booking to stay with you
again.

This review is severely overdue! I stayed at the Sands from 4/17/11-4/25/11 and
my stay was every bit as enjoyable as the first.
For the downtown area, I feel this hotel is a great value. Again, I say this is
not a new hotel with bright, wide open spaces and new fixtures. It is an older
hotel with it's own style and charm. While the service, location and value are
top notch, do not expect five-star luxuries. For me, it falls in the category
"base of operations," to use solely for sleeping when not out and about. I can't
wait to return to Vancouver next year and I will definitely be booking this
hotel for my trip. |
