Guest Review of the Aviawest in Vancouver at Rosedale
31 August 2011
The Aviawest is located inside the Rosedale Hotel. I hope those
rooms are nicer than the Aviawest. The location is perfect. We
are 3 minutes away from shopping on Robson, a few minute walk
from Yaletown.
The rooms are tired. The one we stayed in needs a makeover
badly. The carpet was black & we didn't ever walk on it
barefoot, it was borderline gross. The TV's were OK, the couch
was not really comfy, the bed was a double (not a queen as they
said) and the sheets were crunchy and not comfortable. It had a
great patio but we were told that we couldn't bring the chairs
outside (which we did anyways) and there were no chairs that
could be lent to us for our stay.

Aviawest is actually the Rosedale at Robson Hotel. Aviawest
controls bookings for forty units in the Hotel.
Aviawest operates an office adjacent to The Rosedale. You check
in at their office. We arrived early, but our room was not ready
until the promised 4 pm check-in. We enjoyed a second floor, one
bedroom corner suite. The suite (210) is a bit tired. The
furnishings are dated, and the lighting neither modern nor
bright. The small fridge has a tiny freezer without a freezer
door., The stove/oven combo was functional, but not fancy. I
suspect other rooms operated directly by the hotel are more
modern.
Aviawest offers a once-weekly briefing to its guests at 9 a.m.
each Monday, regarding what to see to do in Vancouver. It may be
only once-weekly because most Aviawest guests are RCI
time-sharers staying a week.

Nice place. We had 5 people in a two bedroom and a pull out
couch, but there was only 1 bathroom. However, the great
location made up for that. There are nearby restaurants,
shopping, and local hangouts. The hotel was quiet. Maid service
is only midweek though, so save your towels. Overall, we enjoyed
our stay.

“Not what it appears!”
Aviawest is a rental agency. You aren't made aware of that until
you get there and can't locate it! At no time were we informed
of the name of the hotel we were staying in, and no services are
provided by the hotel. Never had such a bad experience in my
life. We booked a two bedroom suite with 2 King beds, only to
find out there are NO king beds in the suites. No housekeeping,
no towels, no rollaway, no anything! The staff barely look at
you ~ "Oh, you're those Aviawest people, we can't help you.
Expedia, do you know this??

The downtown Vancouver, BC area is full of wonderful restaurants
and activities. Just don't book a hotel with the name "Aviawest"
attached to it! |
