Very good value for the money. Valet price was sticker shock at $40/day
and had I known the price I would have looked for alternative parking
and had I been thinking fast enough I would have asked for alternative
parking. (Maybe they should have offered the parking lot across the
street if there was overnight parking allowed). For the price of parking
we could have enjoyed breakfast buffer for two hotel restaurant. Instead
we had to upgrade the cost of the room in order to receive a partial
credit for parking, and I was not impressed!
Close to all shopping, Robson Street and the huge mall as well as within
walking distance to Yaletown.
All staff was friendly and helpful. Not much information in the room in
regards to tourist information but the concierge had everything we asked
for.
Very nice spa where we enjoyed facials by Alla. Nice pool and gym but we
didn't have time to actually use them. Room decor nicely done but
bathroom was tired/dated looking. We liked having robes in the room and
we phoned to request slippers and they were delivered to our room no
extra charge.
We used the cups, glasses, paper cups and purchased items from the honor
bar: nothing was replaced for use/purchase the next day.
Lovely Boulangerie outside the hotel with very reasonably priced baked
goods that are very good! And, they only charge a buck for a bottle of
water!
Sutton Place was close to everything we needed which was primarily
shopping and dining and we have the Visa bill to prove it!
We would definitely stay here again and possibly try their properties in
other cities.
Room Tip: I chose a lower room that had a nice view of the street front,
but, I woke to every single siren, so maybe a room located higher might
be quieter. (I believe pets are allowed at an extra charge of $40/night
but you need to verify that).

Nice place, everything was just as it should be. We had no complaints,
except for the valet parking - they dont advise you what the fee is when
they offer it, and you can't see what the per diem is unless you go
looking for a small sign posted out front. Wasn't to nice to find an
extra 80 bucks tacked on to our bill when we left.
If we had known, we would have parked on the street. Hotel is in a good
location though, there are pleanty of shops, food stores and pubs
nearby, and it's a quick drive to Stanley Park, or a nice walk to
Granvill Island, which we did.

My husband and I travel quite extensively, and while we aren't high
rollers, when we travel we like to stay somewhere nice.
We have stayed at both the Pan Pacific and the Hyatt, and thought we'd
try out one of the downtown 5 star hotels. We thought we'd use to
Hotwire to book it, because with 5 stars you can't go wrong right? That
was our first mistake. Don't use Hotwire, we could have found a better
deal if we had booked directly though the hotel website.
Anyway, the Sutton Place is fine. But it's just fine. The lobby is nice,
staff friendly and helpful, but the rooms are merely adequate-not at all
what we were expecting from a 5 star, considering both the Pan and Hyatt
(4 stars) were much, much nicer. The Sutton is run down, in need of a
remodel, in my opinion. We also tried out the pool facilities. What a
joke! I've seen airport hotel pools and Jacuzzis that are nicer!
Anyway, the location can't be beat for sure, 1 block to Robson, but the
Hyatt in my opinion is equally convenient.
Don't stay here. You can do better for cheaper in the area. We won't
make this mistake again. Pan or Hyatt for sure next time.

As the very first hotel during our 2 weeks trip on the West Coast, The
Sutton Place Hotel in Vancouver was our home for 4 great nights (Aug 12
– 15, 2011). We went a bit over the top with the rate of $160
+tax/night, but that was after a 40% off deal on Expedia, so we
definitely took advantage of this classy hotel.
GOOD: Everything exudes class. Huge room with a superbly comfortable bed
and amazing downtown location. The perfect place to come back and fall
asleep after our very long day trips to Stanley Park, Victoria and
Whistler!
BAD: Just like every other high end hotel encountered, this hotel loves
to charge a ridiculous additional price for a WI-FI connection when it
clearly should be included in the room rate. Thankfully, I still had my
3G data plan available on my phone.
Highly recommended whether you have the money to splurge or you get a
ridiculous deal on the rooms.

I found the room noisy and it was difficult to sleep. It was way too
easy to hear pretty much everything from the attached room and in the
hallway. Tough to sleep through incoming phone calls throughout the
night and hallway conversations. It's unfortunate because I really like
the Sutton otherwise.

Only negative was the price for parking. The location, views, room was
perfect. Fast elevator, attentive concierge, everything you could ask
for really. Room 2010 has 2 large bay windows. A corner room, so very
quiet. Will stay again for sure. |
