Stayed one night with my fiancée and we completely loved it.
Room Tip: Get something with a balcony. Our Exec King had 2!

We stayed at the Shangri-La Hotel in late August. Vancouver is a very beautiful city and this is a very nice place to stay. We would be happy to return in the future.

Elegant, top class amenities and interior deco. Priced around CAD300 per night, the hotel is worthy stay for business and holidays. It is about 25 minutes by cab from airport costing around CAD 30.

The bed is superbly comfortable with glass all round the room offering nice view of the downtown concrete urban centre. All curtains are mechanically controlled with press of buttons.

There are 2 small balconies for you to 'step out' of the room enjoying cool autumn breeze during my stay.

Staff are very courteous and the ladies are dressed in Chinese Cheongsam. Breakfast menu is very attractive and I liked in particular the Healthy Package. Have you ever tried fried egg without yolk?

Although not located rich at the waterfront, the hotel is still within comfortable walking distance from the Canada Place and the waterfront. Robson Street is just around the corner for shopping pleasure. Do not forget the Pacific Centre, a large departmental store. A sizable Apple is found there.

Starbucks outlets are within walking distance on almost all corners of downtown Vancouver. You should try the Ki Japanese Restaurant right beside the hotel. Chinese restaurants named Kirin behind the hotel is another good try. Cheaper Japanese cuisine could be found at the Oyshi Restaurant besides the Kirin Chinese Restaurant.

The only setback is the fact that one has to check in at lower ground and the size of the check-in lobby is not welcoming.

The Shangri-la chain is one of the best collection of city hotels in the world. This one is no exception. The suite we had was beautifully appointed, stocked with first-rate amenities, and very comfortable bed and furniture. The Market Restaurant was a Michelin One Star, and was well worthy of that rating. The service was up to the usual impeccable standard of the chain. The only cavil is that the hotel is located on the lower floors of the tallest building in Vancouver, and is very difficult to access. The only vehicle entrance is through a parking garage that is accessed via a street that is perpendicular to the street of the hotel's address. Cab drivers consistently had difficulty finding it. The entrance to the hotel through the parking garage is, to put it mildly, less than dramatic.

The Shangri-la is an excellent choice for a business hotel in Vancouver, but for truly personal service, I prefer the Wedgewood.
