Guest Review of the Sandman Suites Vancouver On Davie

We stayed here for 3 nights while we were in Vancouver for
Doctor's appointments. To help save money we wanted a hotel
suite with a kitchen. The room was big. It had a separate
bedroom, living room, bath, and full kitchen. The only thing
which was disappointing was the pool was an outside pool and
closed for the season. You have to park around the back of the
hotel which was a little awkward to begin with. There are allot
of eating options such as Denny's, Indian, Asian, pizza, and
pasta areas. Starbucks and Blenz are near by and a supermarket.
We would stay here again.

We are so impressed with this hotel. The service is excellent.
We had a problem opening our balcony door and it was fixed
within 5 minutes. The apartment has every thing you need
including a washer and dryer. The kitchen has all the
necessities to cook a meal but why would you want to do that
when there is every kind of restaurant you could imagine within
a couple of blocks of the hotel. Yes Davie Street is bustling
all the time but the apartment is reasonably sound proof and we
all slept very well. We did not encounter any undesirable
individuals or any loud noise or shouting of any kind. In fact
people were very friendly. There are several fruit and vegetable
markets in the same block, the liquor store is a block away and
there is also a large grocery store. It was handy to pick up
some breakfast things. The apartment is only about 4 blocks from
the ocean. All this for approximately $100. Most hotel rooms I
looked at in the area were more than that and they are only one
room. A real deal. I highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel is located in a very loud, raucous area. Noisy traffic
and lots of drunk people shouting in the streets (and in our
hallway) kept us awake between the hours of 11:00pm-2:30am.
Other than that the room was fine, but we will not stay here
again due to the noise.

We had a really good stay here while in Vancouver.
The room (or suite!) was lovely nice amount of space good view
from our balcony
we stayed with our daughter who had a fold down sofa bed in the
lounge - this did actually take a lot of room up - but was fine
for us - the only minor problem was we were only given towels
for two despite booking for three
the area is in the middle of Vancouver's 'gay village' - it is
also within walking area of the water and downtown
We did find the car park a little bit hard to find and get into
Breakfast was served next door at the adjoining 'Moxie's Bar and
Grill'
It was basic but a fine start to the day
We were there in the summer and our daughter really enjoyed the
swimming pool which she had to herself
All in all the stay was really good - the reception staff were
very helpful and I would recommend this hotel to all

The staff and room facilities were very good, HOWEVER, we were
subjected to never ending noise at night. We stayed on level 7
and I suspect that like for us, anywhere else below level 15
would hear individual cars driving Davie Street, the night life
on Davie street, bangs and clatters in rooms one or two away.
All of this with windows and doors closed. The position on Davie
is great for tourism access, but bring your ear plugs. These is
no effective sound proofing in this building. |
