Guest Reviews of the Listel Hotel Vancouver

We spent two successive weekends in Oct / Nov 2011 in the Listel and
Blue Horizon ("BH") Hotels in Vancouver and were well satisfied with
both. They both have clean, reasonably sized rooms with good bathrooms
and are very centrally located. The Listel has perhaps a slightly nicer
look and feel, but it is difficult to prefer it over the Blue Horizon
which is also well appointed internally and has exceptional views from
its top floors.
One difference which caused us to move to BH is that it has an open
garage (C$15 a day) as opposed to Listel with valet parking (C$23 a
day), which I always find a nuisance, no matter how quick valets are!
Listel had very pleasant and efficient reception staff (as did BH). One
notable difference is that Listel has in-room wi-fi and ethernet cable
internet, while BH had only ethernet (so you can't take your online
laptop to bed!)
Re rooms, we were in rooms 627 and 626 in Listel which have the
advantage (alone among Listel rooms we think) of enormous balconies -
which could have accommodated parties of up to 30 people we suspect (if
other guests did not mind!) Views from 627 included down Jervis St to
the Harbour.
In Blue Horizon, we were first in 2907 which has great views to the West
(Stanley Park and English Bay) and north (North Van and mountains) -
definitely worth the extra C$10 per night. Room itself is a little oddly
shaped but big enough. Next week we stayed lower in standard room 1108 -
two Q beds, really spacious square room, with views to NE, but just
buildings all around us (which were not too close or in any way
objectionable).

We stayed 2 nights at the Listel Hotel pre-cruise in late September and
had a really great time. We came in with a small group and enjoyed
terrific treatment from Mia and the entire staff. They were extremely
friendly and knowledgeable, answering all our many questions, making fun
suggestions and helping us arrange transportation to the port.
This is a gem of a boutique hotel with a perfect location on Robson St.
within easy walking distance of many fine restaurants and abundant
shopping. Also, it’s in walking distance to Canada Place and Stanley
Park. The hop-on hop-off bus is just a couple of blocks away and we got
a discount from the front desk.
As befits Vancouver as a whole, this is a totally green hotel, with
recycle containers in the room and the shampoo, conditioner and hand
lotion in metal or glass containers.
We were upgraded to a Gallery room, which includes French-pressed coffee
or tea delivered to your room every morning. That was a very nice touch.
The room was nicely decorated and spacious enough for our needs. The bed
was also very comfortable. We had no trouble using the free Wi-Fi and
took advantage of the free local phone calls.
Right next to the Listel (in fact, you don’t even have to leave the
hotel) is O’Doul’s Restaurant. They have a brunch on Saturday and Sunday
which we enjoyed a lot. Their pleasant bar area also made for a great
get-together spot for our group. All in all, it couldn’t have been a
better experience!

Website touted a more interesting and luxurious stay than reality.
Everything was pretty average. Wifi was very poor! Difficult to get
email downloaded much less view websites. Valet parking expensive- but
we knew that going into it. nice wine reception each evening and good
location

I am a high-level creative professional. Picky when it comes to tastes
and style. This hotel and its staff were fantastic. They gave me printed
directions of each place i needed to go, were prompt and treated me very
well even with the fantastic price I was able to get through a third
party purchase. We recently acquired a company in Vancouver and travel
here is becoming quite common. I have already recommended this hotel to
our top level executives as i was that impressed. There is good jazz
downstairs in the restaurant at night and a wine reception with the
restaurant managers. The restaurant is not only excellent but a local
favorite. Art scupltures decorate the hotel from various artists. The
bed and room were excellent. Excellent location. Beside great shopping
and easy to drive in and out from to North Vancouver where our new
office is located. I travel alone most of the time, but i did not feel
like i was, because they took such great care of me. I recommend this
hotel to anyone that wants to sleep like they are at a Hyatt or Hilton
high-end hotel but with the uniqueness a boutique hotel is able to
offer. It offers the ability to venture out if wanted or to hideaway in
your room and sleep or work late into the night if needed in quiet.

We arrived the beautiful city of Vancouver 4 days before our west coast
cruise and it was our first visit to the city ,we made our reservation
through the Internet and we were absolutely lucky , you know, when you
are coming from the other side of the planet you do not need to make the
wrong choice for where you stay ,the Listel hotel was the right one in
every thing. From the location to the house keeping every thing was
perfect , it is a walking distance from the English beach , the harbor ,
the bus station to Stanley park .the room was large and beautiful and
best of all is the welcoming stuff , Marino ,Sherri, Anthony ,Jesse
,Cana and Sebastian, they were so helpful and friendly . The restaurant
of the hotel is very classy and the food is great too.I hope we can
visit Vancouver in a few months and no doubt we will stay in the Listel.
