Reviews La Grande Residence at The Sutton Place

Upon entering our suite at the "Grande Residence" I was immediately
appalled at how dated and worn it was. I was hosting a girlfriend and
her children from Los Angeles and was completely embarrassed! The suite
felt like a run down apartment in the West End. The bathroom looked like
something you would find in a hospital and the dishes in the kitchen
were circa 1971!! The atmosphere consists of dirty run down
couches/dining chairs and paint chipped walls. The only way to update
this place would be a complete overhaul. There was not one drop of
"Sutton Place" quality. Quite frankly, I am amazed that there is any
association at all. This place is completely mis-represented with the
Sutton Place name.
After the first night I phoned down and asked to speak to the manager. I
expressed my concerns and asked to be moved to the hotel side to which I
was told would be fine however would cost me an extra $100/night on top
of the $339/night I was already spending!! When my girlfriend explained
that her children woke up in the 20 year old pull out with bug bites on
their legs I was told that housekeeping would "take a look" and never
heard anything further. (The kids slept with their mother after that!)
My husband and I stay in beautiful suites at the Westin Kaanapali Villas
in Maui every year for less than what we paid in this hole. It was a
complete disgrace and an insult to anyone who books under the guise of
it being associated with the Sutton Place name.Reviews La Grande Residence at The Sutton Place

The staff was VERY nice, as Canadians are. The rooms are not as
luxurious as the pictures show. The view was looking into apartments
across the street and the hotel is right around the corner from a fire
station. All day and night long, we would hear the loud sirens. Very
annoying. Not a bad place to stay and it is right in the middle of
downtown, but Coal Harbor has wonderful views and you can rent a very
luxurious two bedroom condo for the same price.

We have a family of 5 and it is a challenge to find hotels for a
reasonable price. Sutton Place is a great answer to that with their
Grand Residences. We had a two bedroom apartment with all the amenities
of the hotel. A few bonuses: many movies are made in Vancouver and this
hotel is where the stars stay. It is across the street from Kate
Potter's yoga studio (Namaste Yoga), and the service was superb. Very
easy walk to many great neighborhoods.

Visited The Grande with my wife and 2 daughter on our summer holiday.
Location was perfect for visiting Vancouver and area. Walked around from
hotel everyday and visited many points of interest such as Gas Town,
China town and found that we couldn't have chosen a better place to set
down our bags for the 3 nights we spent in Vancouver. Walked to
restaurants 2 nights and went to pick up Sushi for the other night just
a block from the hotel. 1 Bedroom flat was perfect. View on the town
amazing. High class accommodations. Uses kitchen for a few meals as
well... When we left we all got a nice little bag of cookies and a
bottle of water for the road. I would not hesitate to go back, we all
loved it....
