I stayed at the century plaza for five days on business in a king room.
The location was fantastic, staff friendly and room was great too. This
is an old building but they have done a great job updating it. The room
was spotless. It had a kitchenette which was handy. The bed was awesome.
Very comfy. The pool was nothing fancy but it was clean and warm! Great
steam room as well.
Both the cafe and restaurant were excellent. I went to the comedy club
one evening and I have to say, one of the better shows I have seen!
They have a fantastic environment policy - if you skip housekeeping you
get a $5 voucher for the cafe or restaurant.
My only complaints are that the doors all slam shut which is disturbing.
Also, the extras add up. Parking is expensive and so is wifi!
Pros totally outweigh the cons. I will stay at this hotel again.

A nice clean and large room together with a small kitchenette. The
bathroom was very modern and was kept clean for the whole time we stayed
( a week). The hotel is situated right in the middle of downtown and in
walking distance of all of the main streets. One small snag is that the
hotel is next to the hospital and if you choose a room on the side next
to it then there is quite a lot of noise from ambulances if you have the
windows open. The breakfast is quite expensive and we found a
convenience store only 5 minutes walk away so we had all of our
breakfasts in our room. The tourist bus stops right in front of the
hotel. This is a great way to see the city and you can get on and off
wherever you want. The bus comes by every half hour, the driver gives a
running commentary and it costs about 35$ a day. Just one very important
tip, Canada charges a value added tax on everything you buy. The shops
do not show the price including tax, this applies to restaurants as well
so that you always get a surprise when the bill arrives. Go to the
museum by the University. It has the most fabulous collection of art etc
of First Nation People. To get there by taxi costs about 30$ but we
returned by bus for 5$ and it is easy to get back into the downtown. If
you are going on to Vancouver Island then get a taxi just to the main
bus station. You then catch a bus right through to Victoria. The bus
takes about 1 hour to the ferry, then it drives onto the ferry which
takes about 1& 3/4 hours through the smaller islands and you then board
the bus still on the ship which then takes you to the bus station in
Victoria which is right in the middle of the town.

When we arrived I got excited because the lobby is really modern with a
nice looking restaurant and cafe. The room was very large, it had a
kitchen and 2 double beds. The bathroom had a more modern looking sink
area.
Did have a good location near the centre of downtown

My husband and I have just returned from our dream holiday, a trip to
Vancouver and a trip on the Rocky Mountaineer. We stayed at the Century
Plaza Hotel in Vancouver and as this was booked by our tour operator we
were very pleasant surprise when we arrived. The hotel is modern and
absolutely spotless. Staff are very pleasant and nothing was too much
trouble for them. Because we were staying more than 2 nights we were
upgraded to a suite which included a small kitchen and lounge area. This
suited us as sometimes we just like to have breakfast at our leisure and
in the evenings, having been out all day, we like to relax and read, so
this suited on both these aspects. I would highly recommend this hotel
and if I was to return to Vancouver I would definitely stay there.
