Guest Reviews of the Best Western Plus Downtown Vancouver

This is not the kind of hotel you would normally expect from Best Western and
that is why it has a "Plus" designation. A couple of years ago Best Western
began to give additional designations to its single brand name and this has
improved my perception of Best Western. After all, not all Best Westerns are
created equal.
This hotel is a great example of quality, service and value to the traveling
public. I found this location to be very central-steps to the ferry to Granville
Island, within the entertainment district and adjacent to Yaletown.
I found the front desk personnel most pleasant and helpful. My request for a
wakeup call and an early morning taxi were faultless.
The quality of the room product was amenity rich, perhaps too much so. It had a
stack with a refrigerator topped with a microwave topped with a coffee maker.
All the table lamps had power outlets so you never have to move furniture to
find an outlet to recharge your phone or computer.
My bathroom had big fluffy towels and all the soaps and toiletries one might
need. Most unusual was my bathroom had a window with a great view of downtown
Vancouver!
My only not-so-negative comments would be the style of the furnishings does not
live up to the quality potential this hotel has; and, the water pressure in the
shower was not constant.
Would I return to this hotel? Absolutely!
Room Tip: Ask for a high-up room overlooking east and enjoy the view as day
turns to night, when the sunset reflects off of other building and the lights of
the night begin to glow.

Friendly staff. Hotel in good repair. Convenient location.
Room Tip: Rooms ending in '13' are corner rooms, and thus have windows on two
sides. Nice if you like a view, perhaps not if you don't like too much sunlight.

After all ready staying at another hotel at the start of our trip, we wanted a
different location on return for the last few days, so we could do other
activities & also experience a different area of town.
We arrived here at 11pm, but hotel was aware of this. Check in was nice & easy.
Was also told about the free shuttle they offer during certain hours to drop you
off downtown.
Room - was nice, clean & good views. Having stayed at a few hotels all ready,
this one was the smallest, but it wasn't crapped by any means. The decor was
modern. Very comfortable bed, which is my number one concern. Had a fridge,
microwave, coffee maker (bonus points was that they also had decaf coffee
filters!). The bathroom was also tidy & clean. Liked that it had a pull out face
mirror with light - great for doing makeup in
Negative Point - hall way noise. My friend was woken at appx 4am to a number of
people talking & laughing in the hall way. We understand people go out & do make
some noise on return, but she said it was close on an hour before it stopped. So
noise does carry in the rooms.
Hotel - Was very close to Granville Island. Also bus stop right out the front -
we mainly used buses while in Vancouver as the public system was really easy to
use (both day & night). Also we did make use of the free shuttle both days we
where there, but make sure you advise them early if you need it, as it can be
out all ready.
Has free internet in the foyer to use, which was great. Staff where help to help
when we asked questions. Also where happy to store our bags on the last day as
we where not going until that night. There was also a White Spot Resturant
attached to the hotel, which was great - we had breakfast & lunch here. There's
also a 7 Eleven across the road.

Hotel staff were friendly and acknowledged you each time you went past. My room,
although not large compared to others I have stayed in, was clean and the bed
was comfortable. I was on the 9th floor with a room on the corner of the
building however the street noise was acceptable for a city hotel.
There is a large building being constructed opposite however noise from the site
was limited to daylight hours so I would not let this work put you off staying
here. The rates were good and included an allowance (by voucher) for breakfast.
The selection of food for breakfast and dinner was limited but was hot and well
presented.
There is a complimentary shuttle service to wherever you need to go in the
downtown area. This service is one-way only so you need to make your own way
back. It can be a long walk back from some places but the walk back through the
main city area passes lots of shops, bars and restaurants so you can take your
time if you want. There is also plenty of public transport or taxis.
A 7-Eleven store is located across the street and is handy for a range of things
such as a snack, magazine or a tube of toothepaste. There is a hotel opposite
which is a venue for live music on some nights however I did not hear any when
in my room. I wouldn't recommend it for a quiet drink at the end of a long day.
I would stick to the bar in the Best Western for that. The staff in this bar
were also very friendly and spent time to have a chat.
Based on my experience I would recommend staying here.
