We stayed at the Best Western Downtown Vancouver hotel before we went on a
Princess Cruise that left from Canada Place. We weren't renting a car so I was
looking for a hotel that wasn't too far from Canada Place and where we can walk
to restaurants and attractions. This hotel fit the bill. There certainly were
other hotels that were closer to Canada Place but they were much more expensive.
This hotel wasn't cheap but it was reasonable for what we were looking for.
There were other hotels in the area in the same price range but I was glad we
picked the Best Western Downtown Vancouver hotel.

The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was spacious. They gave you 2
free bottles of water every day so we didn't have to buy any. There were several
eating establishments nearby to choose from - restaurants, diners to a Tim
Horton. Only drawback was that it didn't have a pool. The front desk clerks were
very helpful. They have a free shuttle that will take you anywhere downtown w/in
a 5-10 mile radius one-way. So we used this service to take us to Canada Place.
I thought we would have to get a taxi but they said that this is what the
shuttle is for.
The Best Western Downtown Vancouver hotel was 2 blocks away from one of those
"Hop on Hop off" trolley tour stops. It's also not far from Granville Island
where there is a water taxi service to take you there from the mainland.
Overall, the Best Western Downtown Vancouver was a very nice hotel. I would stay
there again if I were to take another cruise from Vancouver.

I stayed in the Best Western Downtown Vancouver hotel with my children (10 and 7
years). We had an appointment in BC Children Hospital the next day and Best
Western is close to the hospital. We were located at the back of the hotel on
the 5th floor, what gave us an awesome view in the evening. The room was very
large with an extra area as a living room with 2nd tv where you could sit when
the children were asleep. I also liked the idea that my car was parked under the
hotel and that it was safe there. My children and I went for dinner and we did
not feel uncomfortable on the streets. The next morning we had a lovely
breakfast in the new renovated restaurant. The food was excellent and fresh and
the restaurant felt very comfortable. It is a good place to go to have breakfast
even if you live in Vancouver. I would definitely go back to Best Western in the
future.

We stayed two nights at the Best Western Downtown Vancouver hotel and were
impressed by the comfort of the room and friendliness of the desk staff. It was
clean and quiet, especially considering the noise that is outside on a Friday
night in that area. The few times I could hear anything, it was well muted, and
we had a corner unit that faced Drake and Granville, so the sound proofing was
well done.
The hotel did not offer a lot of perks that other Best Westerns do (there is no
complimentary breakfast, for example, but there is a restaurant on site), but
they did offer comfortable, clean rooms and very reasonably priced parking for
being located in a large city.
It was a bit if a hike to the downtown area, we did not feel unsafe at any time
in the surrounding area, including walking home late in the evening one night.

We stayed one night at the Best Western Downtown Vancouver. We ended up having
our grand daughter stay with us, so needed two beds instead of the one. This was
done quickly, and with no charge. The room was very nice, clean and the beds
were extremely comfortable. We walked down 3 blocks and were in Yale town, which
has many, many restaurants to chose from. We felt that the price was very good
and the stay was very comfortable. Would stay there again.

and our server was fantastic, friendly and fun. Will come back again.

This hotel was such a pleasant surprise. The staff was so helpful - offering
directions and restaurant recommendations. The location is great - close
proximity to Granville Island, Yaletown, downtown. Rooms were very clean, beds
super comfy, & the showers were awesome. Rooftop workout room has a ping pong
table & large balcony with great views of the city. Secured parking garage with
very reasonable rates (*/night). Dining tip: We did takeout pizza from Panago
(within walking distance in Yaletown, on Pacific Blvd) & ate on the balcony of
the rooftop workout room.

I needed to head to St. Paul's Hospital for my yearly check-up. My first time to
this hotel, and I liked it. I was only 3 blocks away from the hospital. Since
that I was injured, the hotel had its shuttle to drop me off at the hospital.
The room was nice, and the front desk people were very friendly, and helpful. I
especially liked the fact that the Airporter stops at the hotel-so no more cabs
to/from the airport( thank goodness).

Location of hotel is fantastic -- unfortunately, there were no places to eat a
quick breakfast. When we visited the hotel hot tub to our disappointment the
first night it was out of order and the second day the water wasn't hot - not
even close. Staff is friendly and it is a good buy for the money.

Stayed a few days prior to an Alaska cruise with extended family. Easy stroll to
Robson Street area and to Yaletown. Shuttle bus gets you to cruise piers. Clean
accessible room, lacks wheelchair roll-in shower. Front desk quite helpful with
directions and range of recommendations; taxi company literally down the street
so little wait. WiFi connection was fine in room. Met our needs and saved a
bundle.

A group of online friends from CruiseCritic.com decided to take an Alaska cruise
together, and it left from Vancouver.
One of our members travels to Vancouver on business, and took it upon himself to
check out and query a few Vancouver hotels to find a good hotel with a decent
group rate for us.
He landed on the BW Downtown Vancouver.
Their group sales department was a pleasure to deal with in the months leading
up to the cruise.
I arrived in Vancouver on the Amtrak Cascades, and told my cab driver which
hotel I wanted. Unfortunately, he misunderstood and took me to the Westin Hotel!
When I pointed out that I had asked for the Best Western Downtown Vancouver, he
told me there were four Best Westerns in downtown Vancouver, and asked which one
I wanted. I didn't have the address, but after calling his dispatcher, he
managed to get the address and delivered me to the hotel.
Check in was prompt and friendly, and I went up to my room to discover that I had
a room with a kitchenette! Small fridge, two burner stove, microwave, and
cabinets full of dishes, cooking implements, etc. The room was pretty typical
for a chain hotel.
I looked out the window and saw the Granville Bridge, and down below - the taxi
company headquarters!
I headed out to find myself some lunch, and started walking down Granville
Street. There were adult shops, liquor stores.... I started wondering what kind
of neighborhood our buddy had booked us into! Then I got to a point where the
street was closed off and the sidewalks torn up (turns out they're doing some
kind of transit improvements prior to the upcoming Olympics).... I turned left,
went over one block, and ended up on Howe Street, which had lovely trees and
shops - quite the contrast!
The hotel is a block or so from a stop for the BigBus, which was my sightseeing
transportation for two days. One night, a few of us walked down to the bottom of
Hornby Street and picked up a water taxi to take us across False Creek to
Granville Island for dinner. I believe it was about $5 CDN for the roundtrip.
On the night most of the group (including my roommates) arrived, the hotel
shuttle took us over to a restaurant we'd chosen for our get-together, and on
the morning of the cruise, took us (and a lot of other people) over to the
cruise terminal.
I was impressed by the friendliness of the staff and their willingness to go the
extra mile for their guests.

This is an excellent hotel. Beds comfy, rooms clean and attractive, staff sharp
and helpful. WiFi hooked right up and there was no additional charge.
I'll stay there again any time.

I got the prevailing deal (Allure Hotels in my case). As previously stated here,
the hotel is fine, with clean rooms of reasonable size and a good standard of
cleanliness. I aimed "cheap" because I was travelling solo, but I would be
perfectly happy to bring my family here. The thing which made me decide to write
this review was the standard of advice about Vancouver and skiing available at
the front desk. The staff gave unstinting and (as it turned out) accurate advice
on Vancouver's attractions. One small comment - the hotel is on the southern
edge of downtown, and the neighborhood is not up market. However, as already
mentioned, I never felt uncomfortable and would happily bring my family to this
hotel.
