Vancouver is a coastal city and major seaport in the southwest corner of British Columbia Canada, located on the Pacific Coast between the Strait of Georgia and the Coast Mountains

Metro Vancouver is made up of 5 municipalities to the east, Burnaby, New Westminster, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and Port Moody.

Two more municipalities are to the north of Vancouver, separated by Burrard Inlet, West Vancouver and North Vancouver also known as the North Shore and home to some of Vancouver's most popular attractions Grouse Mountain and Capilano Suspension Bridge.

To the south of Vancouver  Richmond home of the Vancouver Airport YVR , Delta, Surrey, White Rock and Langley municipalities.

Thirty-eight kilometres (24 miles) south of downtown Vancouver is the Canadian Border -US border.

Across the Strait of Georgia and 96 km (60 miles) to the south-west is British Columbia's capital city of Victoria, on the southern tip of Vancouver Island.

If you head North out of Vancouver, and home to the 2010 Winter Olympics you will find Whistler and Blackcomb Mountain and the quaint Ski Resort of Whistler Village.

The Downtown business and shopping core of Vancouver is on a smaller peninsula, with Burrard Inlet on the north, English Bay on the west and False Creek on the south.
