Granville Street (MAP) |
Granville Street runs mostly north-south through the
centre of Vancouver, passing through several neighbourhoods and commercial
areas.
From the North Granville Street starts at the Waterfront at West Cordova Street
and heads South through a pedestrian-friendly Downtown Vancouver area known as
the Granville Mall with
Pacific Centre Mall
and Downtown Vancouver's
retail scene running into the Granville Entertainment District, here numerous
shops, restaurants, and the city's top dance clubs, bars and entertainment
venues are located ending at the Granville Street Bridge.
Many Hotels are located on Granville in the Entertainment District such as
Best Western
Chateau Granville, Comfort Inn
Downtown, Vancouver,
Ramada Inn and Suites Downtown, and
Howard Johnson Hotel.
Crossing over the Granville Street Bridge and over
Granville Island (Granville
Island Hotel is located under the bridge) through South Granville, there are
many Art Galleries, well known furniture stores and high end fashion shops as
well as some neat Eateries, Deli's and first class Restaurants.
It then continues on through one of the most expensive Residential areas
Shaughnessy and then finally Marpole from 57th Avenue to 70th Avenue which then
becomes South-West Marine Drive. It then forks to the Arthur Laing Bridge that
leads to the Vancouver
Airport in Richmond BCGranville Street will be a stop on the New
Canada Line which will bring new
benefits to the Downtown core, by connecting it with the rest of the city and
the Vancouver Airport in Richmond BC. |
