May 12-19 2008
For one magical week each May, young audiences are engaged and
entertained by performances and hands-on arts activities devised to
delight, challenge and educate young minds. Delighting young audiences
since 1978, this year's festival includes the rock 'n' roll circus of
"The Perfect Unknowns", the King of Zydeco music, Terrance Simien in
"Creole for Kidz", and the mind-blowing visual and musical extravaganza
of "BIG NAZO Intergalactic Creature Show". Tickets sell out quickly so
be sure to book early.
Jam-packed with music, theatre, dance, storytelling, puppetry, circus
arts and much more, the Vancouver International Children's Festival
embodies the buoyant spirit and endless curiosity of children all over
the world.
The Festival has been called a "national treasure". It has touched the
lives of so many people all around the world that it would be impossible
to count! Has it touched yours? Then we'd like to hear about it. Send us
an email with your favourite memory, cherished story or just what the
Festival means to you and we'll post it to the Festival Memories section
of our website.
For me, the Festival is a not-to-be-missed opportunity for families to
celebrate together, to explore and inspire their children's creativity,
to open children's eyes to the world in a new way and to experience the
joy found in artistic expression of all kinds by all kinds of people.
We hope to see you in the tents at Vanier Park and hear about your love
of the Kids' Fest! |
