A very special event held in Vancouver is the Celebration of Light
Festival produced by the Vancouver Fireworks Festival Society, a non-
profit organization whose mission is "to stage annual pyro- musical
fireworks displays in Vancouver, British Columbia and related community
festival activities."
There are many vantage points to watch this if you do not want to
travel downtown Kitsilano, and West Vancouver have some great views of
it. They close many of the streets in downtown Vancouver so plan to be
there early or take sky train down and wear comfortable shoes for the 20
minute walk to English Bay.
The world's leading fireworks manufacturers consider the HSBC
Celebration of Light competition to be the most prestigious and an
exciting arena where they can unveil the latest pyro- musical techniques
and the most innovative fireworks materials.
Three countries take part in the HSBC Celebration of Light the final
evening concluded with a Celebration Finale, a specially- designed show
to pay tribute to the event.
Music simulcast began at 10:00 p.m. on radio station Rock 101 (101.1
FM).
