I recently had to make a mandatory last-minute trip to Vancouver, and needed
accommodations. After numerous phone calls to other properties, this was the
only accommodation I could find in the area.
Being the owner of a travel agency [--], I expected a hotel in the Ramada chain
to be a decent hotel, to have at least maintained the property, but alas, this
one is not.
The paint is old and flaking, the carpets in the hallways are stretched and
bubbled, even lifted in spots. Damage to the doors and door frames was not
repaired well, and the doors themselves appeared not to have been painted (or
even washed) in a very long time. The room was generally old and tired, and the
beds were just OK.
This may have been a decent hotel at one time, but now it is certainly past its
prime - and at $120.00 /night, it's overpriced - especially since there are
better hotels that cost much less.
Avoid this hotel if you possibly can.

This is one hotel that we would suggest you miss!
When we arrived (the day after we made our reservation) they had mixed up our
reservation room request, although we did manage to get the types of rooms that
we had requested.
We had one King "suite", which is the same as a King room, except it has a
microwave and a fridge. The cutlery and tray was dirty, so although we had hoped
to be able to use the "kitchen" we chose not to do so.
The shower had a large patch of hair stuck to the wall, and we found a large
dead bug on the side of the tub, right by the shower mat. Both should have been
visible to cleaning staff. As should the hand prints by the light switches.
One room opened onto a little "ledge" on the side of the hotel, which had
another room opening onto it as well. This is not a balcony, just a "decor"
ledge. However, when we discovered as we were leaving that our window had no
lock on it and could easily have been opened from outside, it didn't give us a
great feeling.
I agree with other reviewers that this hotel is one that the owners seem to be
"letting wear out" unless they are planning a reno soon. The carpets in the
hallways are definitely worn and dirty, and the carpets in the rooms aren't much
better. In fact, little "dust bunnies" could be seen in the corners of the room.
This hotel is definitely one that we plan to avoid -- at ALL costs -- in the
future. For the amount we paid, I think the hotel is way overpriced.

I took a chance and booked at this hotel despite the reviews I saw on this site
and actually had a great stay. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable
both at the reception and the cleaners. I was given a newly renovated room that
was very comfortable and had great internet reception. Cleaners even refilled my
ice bucket that was cooling my cola when I was at work, i thought that was a
nice touch. Although hotel is older, it is kept in good shape. For a 3 star
hotel at a reasonable rate its a great choice. I will stay again when I am back
for my next course. Also, great food with big portions in the restaurant.

We had to stay at this hotel recently for a volleyball tournament. Here are a
few highlights ... I mean lowlights!
1. Our room had no heat. None. When we went down to talk to the front desk (as
our phone was unable to dial directly), they said they knew, there were no other
rooms and they gave us a little space heater, which they promised would warm up
the room.
2. When we opened up the pullout couch for our daughter, it had crumbs and hair.
When we got new sheets, we asked for more blankets because we were cold but the
receptionist assured us we wouldn't need it with the space heater. We froze all
night.
3. We asked for a new room, and were given a 2 bedroom suite, which sounds
lovely. It had a phonebook lifting up one side of the bed, the couch had tears
in it, the mattress was older than we are, the coffee table was engraved all
over with markings, the chain to lock the door had been ripped off (looked like
someone had kicked in the door previously), but it was warm at least! And this
one was clean.
I really don't think it is the front desk's fault that this hotel is in such
disrepair. I actually felt that the manager and the receptionist were doing the
very best they could. Ramada obviously is just letting this hotel fall to
pieces. Other volleyball parents had other issues ... ants, bad mattresses, thin
walls, etc. I truly feel for the reviewer below who had to stay at this hotel
for an extended period. 2 days were bad enough.
I should mention that we did have a great meal at the restaurant attached to
this hotel. |
