This hotel is a really good choice for persons who might not want to
stay in downtown Vancouver but need access to the city. The hotel is
adjacent to the large Metrotown Mall and right across the street from
the main Skytrain Station.
The hotel was quiet, clean and pleasant. The staff were helpful and
courteous. It's not luxury, but it sure was well-run. The beds felt
brand new, and were very comfortable. There were 3 adults in our party,
and room enough for all of us to move around with ease. We had a fridge
and microwave as well as the usual coffee maker and the full breakfast
offered in the hotel.

We stay in Vancouver several times a year, and I've stayed at numerous
hotels in Vancouver and surrounding area over the years. We like this
hotel for it's location, the breakfast (good when you have kids), and
the overall level of service and rooms (particularly beds). The location
provides ample shopping and restaurant availability, and easy access to
Skytrain for travel to downtown. We've always experienced good service
and have always had an overall pleasant stay. One thing on our wish list
would be a bit better fitness area along with a hot tub out on the deck
with the pool. If you're looking for a reasonably priced, clean, updated
hotel with an excellent location, this is it.

We had a great stay here. The room was bright and clean. We got a double
queen room for my little family of four. I was very please with the size
of the bathroom. I normally end up in hotels with bathrooms so small you
that the door barely clears the toilet, this room didn't have that
problem. The staff was professional. I also liked the security of the
parking garage. They close the metal gate like a garage door and one
must have a room key or contact the front desk during sleeping hours
overnight.
The ONLY reason they failed to earn the fifth star was lack of luggage
carts at the very end of our stay! The front desk informed me the ONE
cart they have was currently in use by a guest who simple left their
luggage here prior to the time for them to get a room. The hotel should
have the second cart for situations EXACTLY like this. It's hard to
believe a hotel with this many guest rooms doesn't have more than one
available cart?

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Metrotown for business mainly
because of its central location in Burnaby, I cannot say I was 100%
satisfied with the room. Although lobby is up to standard for an Express
hotel and staff was friendly, the first impression of the room is
definitely not. Carpet, air conditioner/heater and decoration are old
and need to be upgraded. Bathroom was slightly better, however, during
my first day, no hot water was available, it was at best lukewarm.
Having a fridge and microware in the hotel room were reasons I chose
this hotel, but fridge is noisy and there is no easy switch to turn off
the fridge when not needed. Although I read reviews that the bed was
supposed to be comfortable, that was not my experience. I found the
mattress was not firm and too soft for my taste.
The free (typical American) breakfast is a plus, but I’m not sure I want
to return to this hotel. In the end, Burnaby is easily accessible by the
Skytrain from downtown Vancouver. I’ll try another hotel next time I
need to visit Burnaby, BC.

I have no complaints with the Holiday Inn hotel staff. They were very
helpful, extremely courteous, and kind. They placed me in the wing where
the Skytrain would not be an issue and for that I am thankful. At first
glance, the rooms are average at best, but I knew as soon as I walked
into my first room that there was going to be a problem. The air just
seemed stale, then I couldn't get the A/C unit to work to help get the
air circulated. Again, the front desk folks were accommodating and
immediately put me in the next room. Problem solved! Hopefully, it was
just that room. From then on my stay was great, a little noisy from
being too close to the elevator. A BIG positive was the bed! I haven't
slept in a better hotel bed during my years of travel than this one. If
you can get past the seemingly aged rooms and possible air issues, the
beds are downright comfortable!!

My sister and I took our daughters for a Vancouver shopping weekend. Our
stay was quiet, clean and the location couldn't have been more ideal. We
were steps away from the sky train, and the ride to Robson and Pac
centre etc was like, 10 mins....and at the base of the Holiday Inn
Express Metrotown there is everything you could need - convenience
stores, restaurants, hair salons, dollar stores...you name it. My one
and only reason for not rating the hotel five stars is due to the front
desk staff. Not that they were rude, just indifferent and not all that
friendly. Other than that minor detail, we would definitely stay again. |
