Village Museum has something for all ages.
A
visit to the Burnaby Village Museum is a step back in time to the 1920s.
Experience life as it might have been in Burnaby. Self-guided tours let you
discover the farmhouse and village at your own pace. Period-costumed townsfolk
welcome you and give demonstrations at the various homes, businesses and shops
of a traditional village along the BC Electric Railway tram line. Be sure to
explore the newly restored Interurban Tram and take a whirl on the fully
restored historic 1912 CW Parker Carousel.
A traditional BC Electric Railway tram stop village has been created with a
combination of heritage and replica buildings on a 10 acre site. Period costumed
staff and volunteers welcome visitors and give demonstrations in the homes,
businesses and shops. Be sure to take in the elegance of the Interurban #1223
and the interactive tram exhibit.
An exciting must for every visitor is a whirl on the fully restored historic
1912 CW Parker Carousel. Amenities include an ice cream parlour which offers a
menu for light meals and snacks, picnic tables, and a gift shop. The site is
wheelchair accessible.

Heritage Christmas
Come and enjoy the cedar boughs with red bows and other old-fashioned
ornaments and decorations throughout the village and farmhouse. The season
features traditional entertainment, demonstrations, hands-on activities and
exhibits from the early 1920s. The heritage craft and chat with Father Christmas
are highlights with children. Be sure to explore the elegant Interurban tram
#1223. Complete your visit with a whirl on the C.W. Parker Carousel
The museum is 36 years old. The collection has over 50,000 artifacts. At full
speed, the outside horses on the carousel go 7mph. A rare 1911 CCM Motorcycle is
on display in the Auto Shop. Much of the museum site used to be a strawberry
farm. |
