Nice and clean hotel when you don't want to stay in Vancouver. It's value for
your money. The receptionist even brought us a basket with fruit!
At night there where people loud talking and in the morning the outside ( next
to our window) ventilation began to work ( also a lot of noise).

The hotel is on main Hastings street. Free parking out back, and a diverse
little neighborhood with great restaurants and Starbucks nearby. The hotel staff
is incredibly helpful-they even took our bags upstairs while we were parking our
van! The rooms are on the smaller side, but are very comfortable. Lovely big
queen beds, lots of pillows and hot water. Very quiet-were not on the Hastings
street side. Bathroom is a bit small, and could use bigger bath towels. The
breakfast is actually a hot buffet in the adjacent and charming Admiral Inn.
Eggs, waffles, oatmeal, toast, juice-you can eat your fill. Both mornings went
for a run and were up into pretty neighbourhoods and found some park trails.
Great hotel for the price!

We booked this Hotel because of the close proximity to Simon Fraser University.
What a wonderful first impression/pleasant surprise when Katie greeted us,
showed us to our room, gave us a lovely fruit basket welcome, and made us feel
really special! We'd book this hotel again because of her excellent customer
service.!!!

The hotel is perfectly situated for hopping on a bus or rail to take into
Vancouver as it is on Hastings-going straight through Chinatown into Vancouver
downtown where there is very little parking available. The hotel is
unpretentious in it's outward appearance but once inside it is tastefully
decorated and the staff go out of their way to please. It's not your typical 3
star hotel...but far better.
The only entry is through the front doors off of a busy street and it is in
downtown, but an unloading area right in front of the hotel is provided. Parking
is free in the back. Downtown Burnaby at first appears unsafe since it is in the
city until you walk the streets and see the kind of people that live there. We
saw mostly tourist types, college students and many Asians because of the
proximity to Chinatown. We had no qualms about staying at this location in the
future. There are lots of eating places within easy walking distance and a major
chain grocery store is only a few blocks away. The breakfast was served next
door in the pub (owned by the same people) but it was a decent selection of food
which included hot scrambled eggs and sausage. We should have eaten dinner the
night before at that same pub since a steak dinner was an incredible deal there,
but we opted for Subway a block away.
The front desk personnel took the extra time to explain to me twice how to get
to the ferry from their location. I misplaced my map (also provided by them) so
had to ask again. They were very polite, friendly and went out of their way to
make sure I was satisfied. Our room looked out onto the roof but someone had
taken the effort to go up on the roof and put out artificial trees and bushes in
pots to give the effect of a garden. We will definitely stay here again and want
to take the rest of our family to explore Vancouver.

I was a little afraid that this hotel would be too far away from downtown.
Turned out to be perfect with a quick 20 minutes on a direct bus (bus stop being
literally next to the Front door of the hotel) or a 20 dollars cab ride.
The rooms are really nice and cosy. The breakfast was really really good with a
nice buffet and a large selection of food. I highly recommend this hotel if you
don't care being downtown Vancouver but wants to be close to it. |
