I stayed here mid week in January. It was empty I think since I didn't see
anyone else, even at breakfast. The breakfast had a simple selection of eggs,
sausage, toast, fruit, yogurt and cereals. I've had better but I like that it
was included in the very affordable price. Parking is in behind the location and
you have to walk around to the street to access the hotel. The room was modern
and looked very nice, clean and was new looking. The bathroom was a little small
but made decent use of the space. It could use more shelf space. The bed was
comfortable. The down side was the noise. The little fridge made usual condenser
noise but the heater made weird sounds when it starts up and shut off and this
woke me up a couple times. If you're used to a little noise when sleeping,
you'll be fine. The receptionist was friendly and showed me to the room and also
brought me a little fruit basket which was nice. Over all great value.

We will always stay here whenever we're in Vancouver. Everything is perfect,
especially their services and breakfast. The only let down is that you will need
to carry your own luggage's up as there is no elevator. But the Manager, Mari is
ever so helpful to help us carry our luggage's to our room. So, we do not really
mind walking up the staircase :) The best thing is, it's a short walk from a
church, great pizza store, drug store and many other eateries.

The hotel was excellent for our purposes - visiting nearby family. It is well
appointed and a very helpful staff. The room is quite small with no room to
relax other than on the bed- so if staying in for any length of time, wouldn't
recommend. SE

We stayed at the HoJo last week and like many of the other reviewers have said
the outside is very dated looking and I was very sceptical when we drove up.
Once inside I was pleasantly surprised by the decor and renovations. I would not
hesitate to stay here again.

I stayed one night at the Howard Johnson North Burnaby on a November weekend.
The results were mixed, with many good points and some not so good. The hotel is
located in Burnaby Heights, where the number of hotels is small indeed. For us,
it was particularly well situated, because we were visiting relatives in the
area, and it was almost across the street.
The good points include the free parking, the basket of fruit on check in, the
microwave and mini-fridge, and the renovated rooms. The rooms are located on the
second floor, with a big bar and liquor store below. We went down to the bar in
the evening when there was a loud band playing, and thought this could be bad,
but heard nothing in our room perhaps due to its location.
Noise was a bit of a problem, however. The walls are thin, and in the night we
could hear an alarm or something going off, faintly, for hours. Similarly, when
someone passed the door at 6 a.m. we knew about it.
Overall, the is a budget kind of a place, offering good value, particularly with
the included continental breakfast, but don't expect luxury. |
