It is a new facility being built for the 2010 Winter Olympics and will be the
second venue of the Men's and Women's Ice Hockey Tournaments. It will also be
used for Men's Ice Sledge Hockey. The New Winter Sports Centre can hold 7200
fans.
Ice Hockey will also be taking place at
GM Place
Vancouver downtown.
The newly refurbishing Father Bauer rink arena and the construction of two new
rinks will become a recreational and high-performance multi-sport legacy
facility. The new training arena will be convertible to ice sledge hockey
training and competition. One will be used in training, and the other will be a
new 7,000-seat competition facility.
The women’s ice hockey tournament opens on the first day of the 2010 Winter
Games with the finals on Thursday, February 25. The men’s competition starts on
Tuesday, February 16. The men’s gold medal game is the final event on Sunday,
February 28.
