The newly renovated Stanley Theatre is the newest jewel in Vancouver's
growing theatre crown. The elegant performance space is the perfect
backdrop to any theatrical production. Situated along side the trendy
shops of South Granville, The Stanley is proving to be a very popular
venue for those not wanting to fight the traffic chaos of Granville
Island to get to the Arts Club's main stage theatre. Although The
Stanley is somewhat smaller than the Arts Club's other venue, audiences
are treated to an equally eclectic range of productions.
Like its big sister, the main stage theatre, the Stanley gives audiences
more for their theatregoing buck. In addition to regular performances
throughout the company's play season, the Arts Club also offers special
student matinee performances. Just the thing to groom the theatregoers
of tomorrow. There are also "talk back" matinees, where the audience has
the opportunity to discover the secrets of a successful production
through informal discussions and question-and-answer periods with the
cast and crew following the show. Theatre tours, including a glimpse
backstage, are also available.
